Unless we trade Oubre for something, It’s really fucking silly this trade went down. We just traded Ariza for nothing; could’ve just waived him or some shit.

Sliver lining for me though was seeing all the laker fans get salty and butt hurt over not getting Ariza.

Because Ariza was detrimental to this roster. Being the first one to leave practice, the first to break huddles and the last to help the young guys. Good riddance. Addition by subtraction and all. Would you rather keep him just to keep him, you know, since he's been so helpful with winning basketball with our team? That's really f*cking silly. Plus, Oubre is still on the roster and an attractive trade piece.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

I'm just spitballing here, but what if Oubre, I don't know, plays good basketball for the Suns? We don't know what will happen until we get him in here but he's in a contract year and will bust his ass - I have no doubt.
Go Suns!

No, I don’t want to keep Ariza. I think you’re missing my point. I’m saying we didn’t gain anything by this trade. If we really wanted him gone that bad we could have just released and the results would’ve been the same in my mind. While Oubre isn’t bad, he doesn’t fit in our long term plans. He’s a restricted free agent at the end of this year and we aren’t gonna pay him any significant money to keep him when we have TJ, Mikal and JJ. Any teams that wants him can just get him in the off-season. Also due to the current CBA, we are restricted how we can trade him now, just limiting to 1-1 swamps I believe. Not much of a attractive trade piece to me.

Oubre can actually play. Plus we can still trade him. Does Toronto need wings? Would they consider an oubre for Wright swap?

I’m thrilled that we never have to see Austin Rivers in a Suns uniform.

Plus what we're paying Anderson to sit on the bench.

Agree with what everyone else here is saying. Relieved that Rivers never dons a Suns' uniform.

I'm honestly happy with this trade as just Ariza for Oubre. Oubre's not a perfect fit, but he plays hard and he can create offense for himself (though not really for others). I'm not worried about next season. In David Griffin's words, this give us "optionality." If he plays anywhere from OK to great, we can proactively resign him and look to move Jackson or let the market determine whether we decide to keep him. If he's not great, we can let him walk or bring him back on the QO. And like others have said, we can always flip him this year if we get an enticing offer. Good enough for me for Ariza's loafing ass.

All of this reads like favors were doing for agents or whatnot. Maybe to ensure we'll get some preferable meetings with FA's this summer. I'd love to see us go after Tobias Harris.

Nothing new under Sarver. I have lost count of how many players on big contracts PHX needed to buy out due to poor roster management. Remember Vince Carter's mammoth $18M that was guaranteed only 4M or so? Instead of using it to improve the roster they just agreed to pay him to leave. Emeka Okafor's contract could have been used in '13-14 to secure a playoff spot. Greg Monroe, Ben Wallace...

I get wanting to trade Ariza sooner than later and Oubre's a decent young talent, tho I think overrated by some. Still, just looks like another clusterf**k by the Suns. The way the trade went down, one of the main pieces not even coming to the team...I wonder if Rivers declined to play or if the Suns really told him they didn't want him around. And if they decided they didn't want him around, why make the trade in the first place? For Oubre? Great, we have another 6-6 wing with a "defensive rep" who isn't a great shooter. Add him to the pile.

well I had no idea how/if the Rivers thing was gonna work and as for Oubre , haven't actually watched much Wiz but he on a couple of my fantasy teams and I had been pleasantly surprised with how efficient and consistent his production has been with Otto Porter out dealing with injuries
