Rich Paul is certainly getting the last laugh on all of us.
No kidding. What happened to retaining cap flexibility? Not to mention we have a plethora of guards now and Goran is going to want to get paid as well. McDonough is effing up.

Or we realize that this deal will look pretty good once the TV contract sets in and it will be a great player at a very reasonable rate.

I am always an optimist.

Are there any restrictions to trading players once they are resigned as a RFA?

..I'm trying to have hope for something because that contract is straight depressing.

We caved to be sure, but not as much as I initially thought.

The 5th year ought to put a slight kink in any colon, but, aside from that 5th year, all we did really was meet him in the middle - we, essentially offered $12 mil per, they wanted $16 mil per and we gave 'em $14 mil per.

Regardless, I'm actually relieved that this chapter is closed - time to focus on the Morris twins' extension while the talk is out there that they'd likely take a cut to be on the same team, then start preparing for 2014-2015.....

Well, no, they didn't "cave in" any more than Bledsoe "caved in" by not getting the max.

This is what happens when you negotiate a deal - both sides usually find a point in the middle where they can compromise and be happy, or the deal doesn't get done.

And while I think we're all hesitant on the length of the deal, keep in mind that the Suns and their medical staff know more about the condition of his knee than anyone. Apparently it doesn't bother them like Stoudemire's knee did.

Exactly. Bledsoe hasn't missed any significant time as a Sun.

Wow. Better than 5 years/84M I guess. Does Dragic get the same deal? Do we trade Bled for a big at some point?

Wow, I never imagined you'd come out against this.

Color me surprised.

Not really. Ryan probably would have maxed Bledsoe if Sarver/Babby would have let him. Ryan is probably absolutely giddy right now.

Keep in mind that there will be a new television contract in 2016 and the prognosticators expect the cap to jump from an estimated $66 million in 2015-16 to over $80 million -
