I think Oubre would play better alongside other good offensive players. I don’t think microwave off the bench is his optimal roll.

If Ayton keeps up his increased scoring, he will become only the 5th player in Phoenix Suns history to have a 20/10 season:
Connie Hawkins (once, 1969-70)
Neal Walk (once, 1972-73)
Charles Barkley (all 4 seasons)
Shawn Marion (once, 2005-06)
That tells you how many great big men we've had. Hawkins and Marion weren't really even bigs. And Walk (whom we selected #2 overall after losing the coin flip for Kareem) only had that one really good season. So basically, the list is: Charles Barkley.
Edit: Interestingly, KJ is the only Suns player to have a 20/10 season with assists. He did it 3 times.

then it's bye bye for oubre.

Its possible having him on the bench will free up scoring opportunities for other players (Johnson and Okobo)? The 3-man lineup of Oubre, Bridges, and Okobo has a net rating of 17.1 (77 minutes)

I don't value Ayton's game based on his FGA, nor do I think the Suns' success is dependent on getting a high volume of shots for 2 players. We will be better with another scoring option.virtual9mm wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 7:28 pmAlso agree, Oubre is ideally a microwave off the bench

Maybe, my guess is we might get to see Oubre off the bench tonight. I just think Oubre is a good scorer, not a great scorer. He’s more of a secondary attacker, not a primary. But maybe he’ll be good enough against a 2nd unit.

Why won't they inbound the ball to rubio in the last 60 seconds of the fourth quarter in the celtics game?
Doesn't michael bridges know that rubio is an 83% free throw shooter?

Since Oubre is coming back from an injury, that is the perfect excuse to have him come off the bench and see how it works. You don’t even need to give him a reason, other than he’s recovering from a concussion.
