In 2031, are you still going to be glad that you didn’t care about 2031 in 2024?
Yeah, who's looking at the future? Should I just spend all of my retirement savings this year? I could have a lot of fun.

What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

I'm not understanding all these ideas to trade Nurkic for a small or a career backup. What is the thought process behind that? You all do understand that the Suns would no longer have a starting center, right?

I noticed the Lakers are going to fire Darwin Ham. Is that someone we want to go after for our coaching staff? Maybe he can join the assistant coaching circus.

We definitely trading 2031
Jones glaringly left out a starter in those names: Nurkic. Hmm.

Gotta find the C with a different move. Maybe I’m overreacting to the Wolves series, but Nurkic did not look good. I don’t think he is a starting center either.

I think we could do better with a Pick and Roll center than Nurk.

I mean..Barkley has no clue how good of a coach Vogel or Ham is…so much of coaching is inside the locker room and he’s not there. The players deserve blame, but Vogel and Ham don’t get a pass either. They all sucked.

For me, it mostly comes from the fact he was fucking terrible at the end of the season. It’s sad that our best performing center in the playoffs the last two years was Jock Landale. Thats crazy. Him and Ewbanks were complete fucking zeros. Our biggest needs seem to be revamping our center rotation, bigger defensive wing, and a back up point guard to replace EG.

2 of these problems, can hopefully be solved with pick 22-by trade or drafting and by trading 31.. Most likely Nurk is going with one of these picks and then using other to address the center position.

Ya my guess is that

Book, Beal, KD are all back in the starting lineup.
Grayson, Royce, and Bol are all back on the bench/fighting for a starting spot. So we got 2 starting spots and 2 reserve spots to fill.

Nurk and Nas attached to our ‘24 and ‘31 should snag 2-3 of those. Then you hope to get a couple surprises with vet min signings.

I'm good with that. It's the ideas to trade for backups and smalls that I'm not getting.

I remember when our team used to draft and develop talent.

Ugh.

What if we trade 22 to Minny for 27/37.

Nurk and 27 to Brooklyn for DFS and Day’Ron Sharpe.

Little and ‘31 1st for Tari Eason. Sign Kris Dunn and Mo Bamba to vet min deals…

but let’s face it…we can’t build a title winner next year with our current core. It needs too much added to it and we don’t have any resources to add to it.
James Jones begs to differ.

I might stab out my own eyes by Thanksgiving if I have to watch Mo Bamba start every game for the Suns.

Can't wait to see what happens. Might even cancel my league pass next year.

I just don’t share the same defensive concerns as you. We were 13th in defense this year. The defense wasn’t the problem against Minny…the offense sucked and when we started to slip we let go of the rope and let Minny go crazy.

LeBron plays defense in the playoffs. The Lakers held the nuggets to well below their regular season offensive efficiency. I can’t believe I’m having to argue why LeBron James at the vet min would be good for this team.
The defense wasn't a problem against Minny?! Are you freakin' kidding me?! They scored every time down the court.
Yeah, that was a weird take.

I think that talk about "We didn't use KD correctly" was more directed at KD himself. The FO is trying to signal to KD that we'll try to use him better next year so he doesn't stay mad. He's likely been leaking some of these negative stories to the media this week and they don't want him to get upset and stay mad all summer.
I think you're right.

Durant is such a malcontent.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up on the draft stuff. JJ doesn’t really believe in the draft and it seems Ishbia lines up in those beliefs. We’ll be trading our pick probably every year.
In the short term, that may actually have some value for us because there will likely be some in the league that place a premium on Phoenix Suns draft picks because they'll see the org is being ran by two buffoons.
