It's a bit early to say that we blew it on the Jalen Smith pick. But it is certainly starting to look like we blew it on the Jalen Smith pick. Halliburton genuinely looks like the 3rd or 4th best rookie from this class. I am bummed out that we had a guy like that just sitting there and didn't pick him.

It's probably the Stockholm syndrome, but I feel like I'm getting used to it.

It isn't *that* early.

So is our Memphis game going to get cancelled too? It sounds like there are some players on both teams with covid cases and some concerns about following the COVID protocols. How long until we actually play a game? And how will it affect our momentum?

Were you thinking we had positive or negative momentum?

If we really only have 3 guys on COVID protocols, it sounds like our contract tracing and testing already ruled out the other guys. But I am doubting it for Memphis. If they just found out today, I am betting contact tracing for their team will mean they won't have 8 guys.

If we're playing today, shouldn't there be a Game Day thread? :)

Yup, plus I already said, you all may have forgotten as it's been a while, that I'm not making the next thread after the Washington debacle.

Why do the Hawks do that? They give up way too much

Because they couldn’t agree to an extension with Collins. He is unhappy with the offense in Atlanta and wants a more team oriented offense than Trae ball. Now is the time to trade him.

They get Bagley who is on a rookie deal still with plenty of time to evaluate, and another scorer to pair with Trae and Bogdanovich who is out for the year.

Reddish blows. Okongwu just played his first game

And Capela?

I know they’ll probably move Collins, but you essentially moved their entire frontcourt rotation for Bagley...a worse version of Collins. All so they can upgrade from Reddish to Hield? Hield isn’t that good.

And they just drafted Okungwu at 6th overall this year...he’s already a throw-in?

Just take Capela/Okungwu out and you might have something...

Collins to Phx
Ayton/Reddish to SAC
Bagley/Hield to ATL

That's fine. It is a shortened season with no summer league and an abbreviated training camp. Rookies were a tough spot going into this season.

Much like the Doncic draft, it is less about the Suns picking the best player available and more about our guy being good. Halburton will likely be significantly better than Smith. Nothing we can do about that. But Smith still can be a good draft pick. He has the potential to be stretch big who can rebound and block shots. He just has to get on the court.

John Collins has a lot more value than y'all are giving him credit for. Atlanta is moving him just to add Ayton. And Atlanta isn't bringing in Buddy Hield to create the same logjam Sacramento had last year.
