It will be interesting to see if Vogel or anyone else at the presser is asked about Ayton today.
I liked this sentence from the Suns' press release: "His creativity and ability to build relationships were also significant factors as Vogel has established the skill to connect with and develop players, and to construct a dynamic coaching staff."

Nice breakdown of Vogel here coming off his time in LA. I don't think we have any divas or drama who will present problems for him (maybe one?). If too many ISO plays were an issue for us in the playoffs, that may not change unless he lets Young get creative and throw in some sets. But we'll also need to add some players we can trust with the ball as well.
When I think of DA, the word "scrappy" is absolutely the first word that comes to mind.
I don't know where he said he wanted to build around DA. But we have Book and KD, so building around a center that gives effort for about 1/4 of the game sounds like a solid plan.
Frank sounds like he wants to build the whole team around Deandre Ayton. Hahahaha. Too bad nobody informed him that Ayton's getting traded.
Starting to love this move. If you have an alienated talent, this might he how you get him back. Let's see how they work out.
Babying a guy who doesn't always work or play with max effort is also a great way to alienate the rest of the team that's breaking its ass in practice and in games.

He was speaking about defensively mainly, which is where his focus always is.

If Vogel can get Ayton to reach his potential I’m all for it…I’m not too optimistic. I also think they could just be talking about him this way as a trade tactic

Good point. KD and Book have an opinion already. I wish we knew where they were with him. Good on them not leaking shit - either says they’re ok with giving him another go or not causing a circus / diminishing his trade value.
Did he literally talk about Ayton? Or just about big man role in his defense?
He mentioned DA by name before anyone else did, and then he was asked about DA before saying "the big fella" when talking about defense. Then he was asked about Ayton later and said he can be one of the best centers in the NBA, and talked about him destroying his Lakers in the playoffs.

"Babying" is the last thing you'll get from Vogel.

This doesn't sound like it: "But I'm intent on really connecting with him and restoring him to an All-Star level player."
Sounds like he thinks Monty broke him.
