Ayton is a dependent offensive player…he’s not as dependent as other similar bigs(Rudy, Capela, etc.) but he still is. Every so often he flashes some independent skills, but it’s way too rare for me to say it’s part of his game at this point. Because of that it’s always going to be risky to max him and rely on him. How he plays will always be impacted by his teammates, opponents, and the scheme of both teams moreso than other less dependent players.
It would be fun to watch a best of five series of them. Honestly I’m not sure who wins. Not many teams could slow down 7SOL Suns. Defenses today defend pick and roll very well. I think Nash and JJ would go off to counter taking away the passing lane to STAT. It’s still wild they let JJ walk. He would have become the iso closer we needed when Nash was drained and could have held it down when Nash sat. Whatever the tax penalty was would have been worth it.
I think our own Rankin originally did an article on this in the local paper and now the national guys have picked up on it. I wouldn't be surprised if we see some of it before tonight's game.
04-05 have major holes at defence (Nash, Amare). They would play them just like the spurs of old, and we know the result.
The only way for our current team to lose is if Ayton AND Mikal play like puppies in the offensive side.
Is Amare more an enforcer than Giannis? We know DA plays to the level of competition. I could see him block Amare the way he blocked Giannis this year.
Regarding Jackson Frank, I have a hard time trusting anybody with two first names or two last names but when they have their first name and last names reversed? Forget about it.
