Is T.J. Warren being held out of games on purpose so he can’t reach his bonus?
No.
Good. Thank you.
But there has to be something more going on. I am curious to find out what it is. I hope it is nothing more than TJ continually saying his ankle isn't right and he can't play on it. When it happened, Igor said they were shutting him down from all basketball related activity and were planning to be without him for quite a while. I know the original time frame from the Suns was 2-3 weeks, but maybe they meant 2-3 months and knew it was day to day after the first month or so? I have read bad bone bruises in the ankle can take months to heal.

Wasn't it a thing once where coaches and/or execs and players couldn't share agents?

If not it should be. I think it's like that in the NFL.

Specific agents or even agencies? That seems pretty hard to do. It isn't like there are 100 different agencies with experience doing this. There are only 500 people or so in a position to be working as a player/coach.

I'm pretty sure there was a rule that players and coaches couldn't have the same agent and it started becoming an issue when guys like Kidd and Fisher were retiring and going right into coaching. They were claiming they've had the same agent for 20 years or whatever so they should've have to change. Need to look into a bit more because I remember reading about it. The NBA might've relaxed or gotten rid of the rule altogether. Either way, the NBA seems to be one big conflict of interest now with agents, coaches, execs and players all switching sides and talking to one another.

I would see a bigger deal with GMs and players/coaches being repped by the same company/person.

In the memo sent Monday, the NBPA also said “the regulation prohibiting an Agent from representing both an NBA player and a coach/GM will now be strictly enforced. There will be a six-month grace period (August 22, 2016) to allow agents to transition clients to another agent.”

However, “Agents at the same agency may separately represent a player and a coach/GM so long as notice is provided to the player,” creating a loophole for agents, especially those agents who work for larger agencies.

I don't get how that helps any of this mess. So Klutch can represent players, GMs, and Coaches, just as long as it is different agents in the firm. All the profits rise to the top.

I would be fine with the Suns not dealing with Klutch and refusing to sign anybody represented by Klutch. They're bad for the game and they bully franchises into overpaying their mediocre clients. I wouldn't want any part of them.

They’re a huge firm that will have lots of clients...hard to avoid them completely. And I think a lot of their power will leave with Lebron retiring

How are they bad for the game and how do they bully people more so that any company that is literally paid to advocate for their clients and get them the best deal possible?

The only issue I’ve seen is with Lebron using the agency to get his teammates paid(Tristan, KCP) I think that leverage drops when Lebron is no longer playing. Even if Lebron didn’t have a stake in the agency, they could still play hardball and use Lebron as leverage for their other clients.

Yeah, but that is no different than any business or union. The only "problem" is that Lebron is arguably the best player to ever play the game, will likely be the first billionaire former NBA player, so his demands are listened to with more emphasis. The billionaire owners have been doing the same thing for decades.

Just wait until LeBron has a majority ownership stake in a franchise. Fortunately for the rest of the NBA, he's been terrible at team building as a player.

I didn't know he owned 90% of the Hornets. Wow.
