The coffee shops in Amsterdam aren't much to cough at once you've experienced full legalization stateside.
How many states have full legalization of recreational cannabis? I know CO does.
In addition, I know of Nevada and California.
Plus Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Michigan, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Maine

Nevada doesn’t have full legalization, they have “decriminalization.” You can still get fined, and you still have to get it through the grey market since it can’t be sold legally.

I’m not sure what the situation is in CA.

On November 8, 2016, Nevada voters passed the Regulation and Taxation of Marijuana Act (Ballot Question 2). The Act legalized the purchase, possession, and consumption of recreational marijuana for adults 21 and older. Even though marijuana became legal on January 1, 2017, how a consumer buys it, how much they can have at one time, and where they can use it are still restricted by the law.
In November 2016, California passed Proposition 64, the Adult Use Marijuana Act (AUMA), legalizing recreational marijuana use for adults 21 years of age or older. On January 1, 2018, California began its first day of adult-use cannabis sales, making recreational dispensaries officially open to the public.

Doesn't legalization of marijuana poll well these days? What percent of voters want it to be legal?

Michigan is weird with it. Although it is legal to have and use recreationally, it isn't legal to sell it here.

Yes. But that is more to do with the ballot measure that passed. It was specifically aimed at changing the rules from medical to recreational, and didn't address the federal legality of it. It was the only way they could get it to pass. So they are now trying to create a way to fix the selling part.

I support full legalisation, I just don’t want to smell it anywhere I go publicly - it’s not fair to non smokers and it’s also a bad example for kids.

Having lived in Eugene Oregon recently for a year, it was legal recreationally. It didn't mean I could smell it in public, downtown or even when I'd go to Portland. Sure, on rare occasion, you'd round a corner and smell a little from somewhere. Otherwise, people would consume it discretely in their own home.

As for Nevada, I didn't know there were grey areas. I was just in Vegas for a conference and had no trouble finding a dispensary right off the strip for some edibles before Beatles Love by Cirque du Soleil. They also didn't seem to have many regulations on what or how much of anything you could get.
