I know there's a mental adjustment that we fans have to make with the new salary structure, but I just have no interest in paying Harrison Barnes $20M a year. I don't think he moves the needle nearly enough to justify that.

Not a fan of Barnes.

What has Barnes done to warrant that sort of money? He's like the 5th best player on his own team. Just no.

He reminds me of Rashard Lewis. Seems similarly destined to get way overpaid to be a 1st/2nd option and not even come remotely close to living up to it.

More Marvin Williams to me, like I think he's the same guy.

Yup. But in the "New NBA" that's a $20M a year player.

I think that's insane.

I'd take Barnes over Warren, but not at Max or near Max numbers. The new cap is gonna throw off our perspective, but I think 7-8 million a year on the current cap is fair value

The new NBA sucks.

8 mil a year for Harrison Barnes? I don't love the guy, but that sounds cheap to me, even without the upcoming big raise in the cap.

Russell Westbrook just had a triple-double against Orlando: 24 points, 19 rebounds, 14 assists. Oh my.

He's really good. Better than pretty much every guard not named Steph.

Barnes could be useful as a small ball PF, but at the salary he'll command it has bust written all over it. He'll have to perform on his own but not everybody can give him the space he has thanks to Curry and co. Just let somebody else take the risk.

Maybe it is, I just don't see him as more than a 4th guy. He's a good shooter, plays defense and is decent on the glass but I don't think he'll ever be a top 2 option on offense. He's a very good role player. I'd be very hesitant to break the bank for those guys.

He's definitely getable with a max offer. I don't now why you do that with Warren here, but maybe you sign Barnes and move Warren packaged with Knight for someone. Idk.
Is Barnes better than Warren is going to be?

Is Barnes a star who fits into a role for the good of the team or is he a marginal players that is made to look better by his teammates?

To be fair to him, I think he plays very hard a lot of the time.

He does but nobody has Westbrook's intensity.

Agreed. And to also be clear, I think it would take a lot more than Bledsoe being 6'5" and playing harder to be as good as Westbrook.

I irrationally hate Westbrook, but he's been too good for too long for me to deny it any more. He's one of the best players in the NBA every year.
