Also don't the Rockets and Spurs need to hit the salary floor still? They could take Allen and Keon Johnson as a sweetener as he is a former 1st round pick as another young player to try out. Give us like a JSean Tate or a Cedi Osman or a Devein Vassell back.

We've had interest in Allen for a while. Sometimes you need an agitator/asshole on the team. He's a guy you'd find playing on the Cs, Heat or Spurs which isn't a bad thing.

Generally I think the whole org was over DA and his BS.

That’s hilarious.

Sorry it’s had for you to accept but it sure seems like Allen is sticking around for at least a short while.

I can't wait for the tea to spill about how much everyone hated the quitter. Jeremy will still blame everyone else but Ayton. Y'all enjoy that.

Sure seems that way. He had a coach who treated his players like family, gave pep-talks when DA would pout, and DA "freaking quit" on him and the team. Do we know the exact intricacies of the Monty/DA relationship? Absolutely not. But Monty is as close to a teddy bear as you'd find in a pro sports coaching, and he couldn't get DA to buy in. At some point you have to stop coddling a grown adult (who is a father himself) and just accept that you can't have someone that mentally weak or uninterested in the same core group as basketball psychos like Book and KD.

If he was doing that nonsense and producing on the court (and wasn't exposing his kid to it), what he does as 25 year old multi-millionaire is none of my concern. But him blatantly broadcasting his personal life on top of what kind of player he has shown himself to be just further drives home how deeply unserious he is.

I think this is a garbage trade that will hurt the team come playoff time. I would like to ragequit but you know that I won't -- not after close to 40 years of heartbreak.

Disappointing nevertheless.

Can't keep riding the coattails of 2021. This trade will hurt the team come playoff time, like Ayton hurt the team come playoff time the past 2 seasons. I won't miss being infuriated.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Does he? I'm not hearing that. But your ears are fine tuned.

When he says, "No comment" about something, you know he is very unhappy with it.

Lol, you think Jae Crowder agrees with your assessment of Monty?

Timeline podcast was discussing the trade and talking about Saric. Nurkic really is a supersized Saric. If he can stay healthy I think he helps the offense. I do worry how the defense will look.

I don’t think a malcontent who has left nearly every previous team on poor terms is the counter example you think it is. Yet another guy who thinks he’s the guy.

How the Suns are affected
Speaking of offenses with no ceiling: If the Bucks are favorites in the East, this trade puts Phoenix in the same spot out West. Regardless of what you think about Deandre Ayton’s potential or talent, his contract and individual aspirations made for an awkward fit beside Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Kevin Durant. The thought of him disrupting their chemistry or derailing their defense by sulking on account of not getting the shots/touches he desires made him expendable.

How much of a hit they take on defense, going from Ayton to Jusuf Nurkic (who’s perennially hurt), is almost beside the point when you consider that aforementioned downside and what this team needs to win it all. This is a rewarding exchange for Phoenix. Depth is still the name of the game, and the Suns just turned a possibly disgruntled center into several role players who can help them win a playoff game/series. (Also: Phoenix just slashed a lot of long-term money from their books.)

Nurkic, Allen, Nassir Little, and Keon Johnson is not a bad gain, even if it forces the Suns to waive Ish Wainright and Jordan Goodwin (two names on non-guaranteed deals who become expendable on a roster that currently has 17 players). Since his rookie year, Allen is a 40.1 percent 3-point shooter, and he’ll have plenty of open looks against teams that are trying to slow down their Big Three. If their thought process to win the West is “score more efficiently than the Nuggets can and ask questions later,” then the Suns have potentially succeeded.

So is Allen our 5th starter?

I still hope for KBD still but Allen checks the boxes we were looking for. While I don’t think he’s an amazing defender, I think he’s solid and he’s a good shooter. Little is interesting but mostly a question mark right now, I love Okogie’s defense and energy but he’s unreliable shooter. Right now, I think he’s probably the favorite.
