He's not turning down anything. He still gets his half after he's done suing himself.

Assuming he doesn't win, and therefore keep his team, and not get any of the 2B.

that is, if Donald Sterling was found incapacitated and unable to sign on his own behalf.

Some NBA guy on Twitter, maybe it was Ken Berger, was pointing out that if Sterling sues the NBA, Shelly Sterling already signed an agreement with the NBA to indemnify them against lawsuits. That means, she'll pay their legal costs and pay any legal settlement that is reached between NBA and Sterling. So what the game plan here may be is, have Sterling sue NBA; reach a cash settlement of some kind; NBA (Shelly Sterling) pays that out, to Donald Sterling; and then they can basically write this off of the cost of the team and not pay taxes on it or something. So basically he and Shelly still get $2b, but it is as though it sold for say $1b for tax purposes. Eyeroll.

So it’s just about the money? Surely Donald Sterling is above things like that...

This story just keeps getting funnier. Sterling doesn't even need to hire investigators for that; most of the NBA owners have public records. Like even the Spurs owner got a DUI or something. They all have skeletons in their closets.

Stubborness and the ability to waste money doesn't have a damn thing to do with your mental health.

Who made this ruling you speak of.... and in what venue is it relevent? The court of public opinion, maybe?

that's what stiviano said, that sterling supposedly gave her permission to record conversations because his mental health is poor (ie bad memory)

So to recap, either the tape that got sterling in hot water was illegally recorded, or... the tape was LEGALLY recorded because the 80-something gave permission for the stiviano recordings because he is going senile.

Pick one.
