I’m sure Portis just wants more money from Milwaukee, I doubt he leaves.

I'm concerned that we haven't heard about any FA bigs associated with the Suns.

I’m not too worried, we didn’t hear us associated with anyone last year either. Our front office just doesn’t leak anything. I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes a bit before we sign anyone again, just like last year.

Yea I hope this is another "oh didn't even see us linked to him" kinda week next week because not too sure about this initial report.

McDermott is very good at his role and I even remember this season watching a couple games and their home commentators saying is what they are most proud of is how he constantly works on his weaknesses
Doing a much job attacking the rim when teams close out to him and that teams are not being as successful targeting him on D anymore. Sounds like things we look for in a player but I just think our SF/F depth is already deep enough.

I will wait to see how things transpire and what the backup big plan is but that rumour has me a lil puzzled

Is he the 4th SF now to replace Craig and Nader ?
If so I guess that's not bad but then the $$ thing is still.....
To be continued

Ya I feel like I remember McDermott having a big game against us this year and being a little surprised as a lot of his damage wasn’t even from the 3 point line. He does seem like he’d be a really good offensive fit in the system, but we already have Cam Johnson playing the role we’d be signing him to play.

If you can't beat 'em, sign 'em?

I would like him he is a perfect fit. I thought that this whole season and was wondering how it would play our with the playoffs and the season end.

Perhaps it's just a smokescreen. Jones has been really good at hiding his moves until they develop.
The way he described the situation made it sound that way to me too. Almost like he was saying ‘You might not understand this now but, you will. And that’s all I to say about that.’

Trade idea:

What do you guys think of Cam Johnson and Jalen Smith for Marvin Bagley?

You're not usually in the habit of proposing terrible trades, but I suppose there is a first time for everything. This is ridiculous. Cam Johnson alone is worth a lot more than Bagley at this point.

Jalen Smith and filler I would do.

Thanks?

I don't think it's terrible and no one wants Smith and filler. Bagley is a distressed asset right now and put into the right organization, I think he could thrive. He's also 3 years younger than Cam and fills more of a need - especially with Shamet in the fold.

Here are their per-36 numbers last year. I know Cam had a great playoffs, but he was really inconsistent during the season.

Just because Bagley is a distressed asset doesn't mean that you should overpay for what he is worth on the market.

Cam looked great in the playoffs and this is all folks will remember. If Sacramento wants him, they'll have to add an asset on top of Bagley.

Well I obviously can't give my opinion on that trade idea

When he's not injured, Bagley has been poor defensively and erratic offensively. He also doesn't really fit the Suns system and hasn't showed much willingness to play a role that benefits team basketball, but that latter part could easily be somewhat attributed to playing for the Kings.

I agree with 'bazz that he's a distressed asset and a smart team with a well established culture should go after him, but I don't think he and the Suns are a good match.

Bagley might end up flourishing on a different team, but Cam is a bona fide asset, a borderline starting NBA forward who's an exceptional shooter, great defender, and improving at his ballhandling and drives to the basket. Cam is a gamer and most teams would absolutely want him on their roster. I absolutely wouldn't give him up for Bagley who has been basically a bust so far in his career. If they want to take Jalen Smith and a future 2nd rounder for him, okay, let's talk.

Nope. I like the idea of trading for Bagley and seeing if he can turn around his career, but I already consider Cam more valuable right now.
