Suns are about to let their first and only #1 overall pick walk for nothing.
Stop it! No they're not. They're not THAT dumb.
But they ARE that cheap. Robert, specifically.

Picked the wrong guy, you gotta cut your losses if you don't believe in him. Let it go.

TOO, i know you're not a fan, but are you honestly suggesting letting him walk for nothing is a sound move? It would be colossally stupid and honestly make me question if I should keep rooting for this team.

I assume he meant it is fine if he leaves, not let him sign elsewhere and don't match and lose him for nothing.

I was telling Jeremy to let it go (we all know his distaste for Ayton moving on), not let Ayton just walk. The Suns aren't letting Ayton go for nothing. Good grief.

Always gonna root for the team no matter how much it hurts me and mental health. 😭😭😭

As for letting Ayton walk for free, it would absolutely be fucking stupid and potentially force our hand in giving up Mikal for KD. I know Mikal is probably gone but if there’s a chance we can keep him still then we have to exhaust all options trying to do that. Letting Ayton go for nothing shuts down that potential. Always assumed whatever assets we would get from a potential DA S&T we would just reroute to the nets to sweeten any KD trade package or at least give another serviceable player to help our depth after a potential KD trade. Letting Ayton go for nothing makes no fucking sense and would only hurt our team, especially if the KD trade doesn’t work out. This wouldn’t be an addition by subtraction.

Edit: Saw TOO explanation. Never mind looks like we’re all in Agreement. Lol

They don't have space until the 9th when their Brogdon trade goes through. And their owner is on record saying that he doesn't do RFA stuff without calling the team and asking to make a deal first because he views all owners as partners and signing an RFA screws over your partner. He said that publicly about the Brogdon signing from the Bucks, and even going back to when Bird was GM.

Big game of chicken right now…If Ayton sings an offer sheet.
You have to wonder what deal is Ayton sitting on right now.

That he hasn’t already makes me wonder whether a 3rd team is in place for a contract he likes. Like if Utah has a max or near max in mind for him that is keeping him patient.

Unless he is OK taking less than 100M, I don't think any team besides Indy has the space to sign him anymore. And they won't have that space until the trade goes through for Brogdon.
