He might be the most depressing player to bring back for me. He stunk out loud last year.

I think Eubanks is fine if you play him with a point guard and your superstars stop passing it to him with the shot clock running down and his back is to the basket.

This is a great point. It’s on his teammates as much as it’s on him. He needs to be put in a better position. These superstars passing to him with the shot clock running out was brain dead. For as much as Book and Durant say they are students of the game, this is inexcusable behavior.

Yes, I agree. This board is way too hard on Eubanks. He is what he is: a hustling, athletic, rim-running center. I know the +/- on/off numbers with him weren't great, and he sometimes made mistakes. But y'all acted like he was an anchor holding this team back from greatness or something. Eubanks actually played just fine when the Big 3 worked with him properly. He had lots of nice pick-and-rolls with KD in particular, where he'd set a solid screen, roll hard to the basket, KD would find him with a great entry pass, and he'd lay it up or dunk it. That's about all he'll give you on offense. Don't ever pass it to him late in the shot clock hoping he'll create a shot for you. And on defense he won't be able to stop the league's very best centers, but he'll he'll hustle and have active hands and feet and can mostly play passable defense for his spot. He's making the minimum salary and honestly he's just fine in his role as our backup center.

Agreed. I never thought Eubanks was as bad as most everyone said. But the numbers told a different story, so it's hard to argue there. I did like his hustle and athleticism, he could block a few shots and was limited to dunks. You get what you pay for.

Eubanks’ defense was worse than I thought it would be and he’s not a good defensive rebounder.

He just doesn’t have a good feel for the game. It’s not about getting him the ball late in the clock, it’s about getting him the ball where he has to make decisions on the fly. He’s limited to catching and finishing and he hurts our spacing because the defense knows it.

The site logo with Book lying down after his big shot, eh, it's starting to get dated. We need to commission some art of our boy DREW EUBANKS as the new site logo. Who's with me?
