Had to post this little gem - if it weren't for another $48 million, he'd be saying "just kill me now, will ya....."

Lin looks like a puppy that just peed on the floor. Why is it that Kobe's warm ups look different than anyone else's.

On the RealGm Lakers message board, there is extended discussion about trading Kobe to the Knicks. They are thinking they could take back Amare's contract and then get some assets.

Wow. That would really make things interesting in the East. But I think the Lakers are committed to seeing Kobe retire as a Laker. But I would love to see that trade happen.

I'm shocked that any Lakers fan would ever consider it. They must be pretty low already.
Go Suns!

The Lakers won't do that. It would be shameful and a bad way to treat arguably the greatest or second greatest player in franchise history.

I think West, Kareem, and Magic all rank ahead of Kobe, hands down.

I think none does. Magic is a draw.

I'd also put Wilt above Kobe, even if his Laker years were past his prime.

Let's put it this way ... Kobe's not in the running for the most likeable Laker of all time.

I may be wrong, but I think likable is not the only coin to buy Lakers legacy.

Among non-Laker fans, for sure. But the guy literally has a cult-y army of followers for whom he can do no wrong and to whom he was, is, and will always be the GOAT. You think LeBron is a better player? Count the ringzzzzz, Baby!

This - I think even Baylor might belong on that list as well.

Maybe in your guys eyes, not in Laker fans eyes though. They'll argue that Kobe has gotten the Lakers 5 rings.

Going old school here ... George Mikan certainly ranks high in Laker franchise history. Before Mikan, the center position was populated by pituitary freaks who waded merrily around in the paint, blocking the occasional shot and grabbing rebounds that fell in there area. Mikan was the first big-time offensive weapon at the position.

I couldn't disagree more. They would have given him a contract that NO ONE in the league would have even come close to giving him. And in trading him to the Knicks they would be shipping him from one of the worse teams in the league to a team in one of the best markets in the league and that could advance to the second round of the playoffs.

Sorry, but that doesn't even come close to treating a player in a "shameful and bad" manner.

I read somewhere that before Mikan, they thought big guys were too tall to play basketball. That seems outlandish nowadays, but there wasn't much need or desire for a big man. I could be wrong.
