At least Monty’s admitting it. :P
He probably should have played Stix more. But for most of his time here, Stix was hard to leave on the court. He made a lot of mistakes and often disappeared during games. It wasn't like he was some All-NBA player stuck on our bench. The point where he started to "get it" and started to really contribute positively happened right at the end of his time on the Suns. Coach probably should have seen that and played him more, but given what we were trying to do as a team and given the very mediocre to poor play of Stix up to that point, I get it.

Even this season, Stix isn't exactly tearing it up. He's averaging 9.3 ppg on .463 / .277 / .765 splits, 5.7 reb, 1.0 ast, 0.8 blk in 18.7 minutes per game. Is that a crushing loss for the Suns? Meh. That 27.7% 3pt is especially rough.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/pl ... hja04.html

Also, Monty Williams isn't the one who traded Stix. Maybe he didn't play him much, but ultimately Coach isn't the one who ships him out. So I don't think you can put 100% blame on him for how that situation turned out.

Also also, I notice you routinely call our coach "Monty." I don't know if you mean anything by it, but to me it's a bit of a dig at him. You never call him "Coach" or "Coach Monty" or "Coach Williams" or even "Monty Williams." It's always "Monty." Are you on a first name basis with the guy? Or do you just not respect him as a coach?
You already know the answer to this. He's part of the anti Ayton coalition lol.
Coach Williams ( :P ) will probably call Ayton up this summer and tell him he doesn't want to play him any more. Right, Jeremy? ;)

Lol what. Everybody calls him Monty???
I never took it as a sign of disrespect. That was done with what you said about him. :P From what I gather, the players call him "Coach Mont".

Yeah, I meant on here, I hardly ever see anyone say anything other than "Monty." Just like over on Spurstalk you always see "Pop" or...much worse. ;)

I guess it's not just the word "Monty," it's what you say about him. It sounds in my head like you say it with a sneer. "It figures Monty would bench DA in the 4th." That sort of thing. Anyway, whatever. It's clear you don't like the guy, but you are absolutely entitled to your opinion.

I take everything JJ says publicly about the inner workings with a grain of salt.

It's great to hear Jerry doing so well and still so active. Hopefully he can be there for the Suns' first championship!

Me too. He's the same age as my mom. 83. I want her there for it too!

This would have been AWFUL.
The Suns could have rejected it. It was too late for it to be a separate trade.
No it wasn’t. They flipped Jae. They could have flipped Mikal. Just couldn’t aggregate him with another player.

It was a 4-team trade. See the KD thread where we just hashed it out haha.

You’re right about that part, but the Nets could have still flipped him.

Barton shooting 45% on catch and shoot 3s is intriguing. I still hope we bring in Jackson too

I think we bring in both, which is why I wondering if we might cut someone to make room for Ish for the playoffs (I think we should), and to me Landale could be that guy. Could also be bazley if doesn’t look good. Theres a few possible scenarios, but there’s plenty of time before we have to make any of those decisions.

I just think we’re gonna bring in the 15 best possible guys and that might mean someone is gonna be left out.

Right. Woj was tweeting that the Nets were telling teams that were absolutely not trading Durant, especially not to Phoenix! Which we now know that we were negotiating trade to bring KD to Phoenix since the day before.

People straight up lie. It’s apart of the game.
