Jones was kind of indirectly taking shots at DA, not on purpose, by talking up all the things Nurk does well. Plays big, release valve, finishing at the rim, etc.

Ayton wasn’t going to be content just playing a role…we already saw that. He stops hustling and defending when he doesn’t get touches. He wasn’t going to get touches. It really doesn’t have to be more than that. That’s why he’s gone.

It was always fit, regardless of whether or not people believe it, Ayton was the square peg. Cannot rely on that to win a championship.

Random observation

It's cool hearing voices behind the names I see on articles/Twitter but Greg Moore does sound like a douche and I know many on here say that smh lol

KD and Book both said they want in on Team USA for the Paris games.

Beal said the same thing. All of them, no hedging, just “I want in.”

Not sure Beal will get an invite if all the people talking about wanting to play actually play.

My notes. (I slowed down at the end.)

Ishbia
We got better since going out against Nuggets
Nurkic is a better fit than Ayton
We got deeper with the trade
Mat’s loving life
Always looking to improve
It’s the fans’ team
Having a blast; living his dream
No alarm; wakes up excited
Most proud of putting together a great team
Wouldn’t trade his team for any other
No question we’re better since we got bounced

Bartlestein
Let’s blow through the 2nd apron (Ishbia)
Has a great bond with Jones
Wants Devin to be a Sun forever
Loves Vogel; great person
Matt is extremely involved; makes final decisions
“Having so much fun”
Best job ever
We’ve done more in 6 months than some teams in 6 years
Talks to Mat more than his wife
Pinching himself getting to live in Phoenix after Chicago and Detroit
Excitement in the gym; not many misses

Jones
Targeted Grayson
We’re going to play with an edge
But not dirty
Nurk pressure release valve for our guards
Doesn’t complain and embraces his role
Training camp 15+ deep competitors

Vogel
Nurk a top defensive rebounder and great passing big
Could be huge spark with new group vs continuity like Denver
Start of a marathon; preseason is just the beginning
Scrappy play; won’t take plays off
Allen is an irritant but highly skilled
More offensively talented than defensive; going to have a smart defensive scheme
Intelligent with how we use Durant defensively
Got Lakers to play scrappy and will be the same here
Ishbia’s intent is always pure

Booker
Has Michigan connection with Ishbia
Happy for Ayton; hardest part of the business; good situation for him
Full circle moment getting to work with KD
Wants to play every game if healthy
Excited about playing with Beal; watched him from afar
Going to take Beal to Flagstaff
Has a lot of help around him
Arrived in 1996; answering Greg Moore’s question
Loves traveling
Ready to get after it; lots of talent; not going to be easy

Durant
Excited about training camp
Excited about playing with Beal
Commanders beat the Cardinals
Hanging with Book has been great
Blessed to be able to do what he does in the off-season and being an athlete
Eubanks was already living in Phoenix
Teammates are true professionals
Beal has pure heart for the game
Phoenix fans are going to love him

Beal
Comfortable with the new roster
Has had PG duties recently
Loves Book; just scratching the surface

It’s the thing he doesn’t get about our country…. Was a question regarding the differences between home and being in the US if I’m not mistaken.

He just went off on it when asked "What are you most surprised about in the US?" Talked about how kids shouldn't be scared to go to school. I don't remember all the details but I bet the video will be posted at some point.

I don't know how accurate the heights and weights are for the players but hadn't realized Nurkic was listed at 290. I always thought he was around 6-11 255-260. He looks leaner in that video so maybe he's just worked on getting in better shape over the years. Just can't imagine him heavier than some of the bigger guys like Adams or Valanciunas.

Also noticed Bartelstein greeting the new guys, no sign of Jones in the video. Could be nothing.
Playing at 290 must be TORTURE on his joints and knees. No wonder the dude only plays 40 nights a season.

Hopefully he has dropped weight. Could only help his mobility, durability and longevity at this point of his career.

He went into that a little bit, not in the Q&A with the reporters but afterwards with Leander and Tom Chambers. They commented that he didn't look as heavy as his listed weight, and without giving an exact number Nurkic did confirm that he had upped his fitness regimen and dropped some weight after seeing how hard Lillard worked in the offseasons.

For what it's worth, if anything is to be taken as far as rotations or minutes from the order in which they brought guys out to take questions, Eric Gordon was next after Nurkic, and I heard Josh Okoge announced as next up, although the YouTube stream I was watching went off at that point.

Given the amount of talk about Grayson Allen (especially) and also Nassir Little from Ishbarteljones and Vogel, it seems like those guys are destined to at least be given a chance at getting time. Poor Keon Johnson got mentioned maybe once, by accident.
