Ok folks
No game again tonight so I went searching for an old thread to bump because I would like one thread going about Bol Bol

This one surely is fitting
Peeps can have some fun with their Old Takes lol but I know "Split" breaks down this stuff all the time (contracts) so I just wanna get like one place to check when talking bout young fella 8-)

I know he's been a topic in many threads recently so apologies if I asking folks to repeat themselves but what is the contract situation again....
How likely is it to keep him ?
Are most ppl of the opinion now that he's at least one young player we have worth keeping ?
Would signing Grayson n Royce affect keeping him ?

That's like most my questions to start the discussion and I guess it's obvious I think his development has been cool to see. It's easily been the most intriguing thing we have going right now ✌️👍

He signed a 1 year vet min deal, so we don’t have his bird rights. Being over the 2nd apron we will also not have access to any exceptions to sign him with. So we can only offer him a 20% raise. He’s on our books for 2,019,706 this year but the league is paying a portion of his salary, so he’s actually making 2,346,614. A 20% raise from that would put him at 2,815,937. However I think the raise would go off the 24-25 scale, so he’d be at 2,919,013. I don’t know what his market is, but I feel like he could get more than that if he keeps improving. It is a few hundred thousand more than the vet min though.

Think we gotta hope that he really wants to stay with KD and Vogel. The next year we could pay him up to 105% of the average nba salary which would be like 13 million. Very similar to what we did with Okogie and Lee this year.

The hope would be that, as Split says, Bol feels really loved and welcomed here and feels that it's the best for his development to stay here, even though he might be able to get more money elsewhere. So we sign him to the 20% raise, he has another good year, and once we're allowed to give him a bigger pay increase, we do so. Not a lot of players are willing to leave money on the table like that, but Bol is cut from a different cloth and might be willing to consider it. I'd say it's still less than 50/50 though.

I might be a bit off on those numbers. I was counting him as a 5th year nba player, but his first year was on a 2-way contract so that doesn’t count. I believe his salary would be 2,693,099 next year.

Ok thanks
Appreciate the feedback

Reading back the old posts were funny
If even KD was surprised by Bol, I guess we shouldn't feel too bad :)

One is Bol Bol, the other is Bol Bol Bol, and the third one is Bol Bol Bol Bol. That's how you differentiate them.

He actually has 9 other siblings and half-siblings. I only found 2 names(both half siblings) Madut and Abuk. Madut played college basketball at Southern University and is 6’9….he's 36 now
