I also think with how much a guy like SGA attacks the rim, having KAT as a spacer would be huge. I like the fit…but I also get people who have big questions about KAT

I do agree that the Thunder needs more shooting.

That kinda feels like the one move we might be able to make. Capela and Hunter for Ayton and Payne

If Vogel is looking for a rim protector, defensive big than Capela would be a decent replacement in the shortterm. Just not sure how willing the Hawks would be to take on DA's money after dumping Collins and looking to extend the other guys. Unless they think Trae and DA can make a good enough duo. But it also keeps Okongwu in a backup role.

It gets them off both the Capela and Hunter money though so they do still save.

Capela would be a great fit. Hunter is kind of meh.

Capela just doesn't do it for me. It never seems like he is a plus in the playoffs. He looks ok on paper, but just comes across as an overpriced mid-level big.

And I agree with JNix: Hunter isn't impressive. I know 'bazz likes him. I liked him as a draft prospect, but so far I feel like he has been a mediocre pro who was financially rewarded based on potential and not based on actually being established as an impact player. Him and Capela combined feel like $40 million that could be better used elsewhere.

If ATL is hanging on to Griffin and Okongwu in any deal, then I am not motivated to send them Ayton. I like Jalen Johnson, Bruno Fernando, and Bogdanovic, but I am just not interested in taking on any of their other pricey veterans.
Trendon Watford. Please and thank you.

What if they threw in Johnson? I think they love Okungwu and honestly I’m not sure they have much interest in Ayton blocking his path to more playing time.

I agree with INF; I don't like Capela. Ayton has big flaws, but he is much, much better than Capela. And taking on a dead weight contract like Hunter is a bad idea. We can do better for Ayton than this.

I think that’s why we haven’t traded him. We can’t do better..and I wouldn’t call Hunter a dead weight contract. He’s no star but he’s a serviceable rotation player. We need rotation guys right now. He’s just overpaid.

Just curious… if we called Ayton an over paid rotation guy, would that help our perception of him? 😂

I don't think Capela is that overpriced for a double double rim protector. And it's the ending salary in 24-25 that helps just as much. An overpriced mid-level big is what DA is probably going to end up being anyway as a 4th option.

I don't love Hunter and we'll be locked in with his extension but he could be the depth piece as a defensive wing we can use. He can be a threat from 3, maybe moreso playing off our Big 3 and can play some smallball 4. Still some upside as a shooter and only 25.

Truth is there may not be better offers. Dallas offering THJ, Bullock and McGee? I don't think Indy is going to offer Turner and Hield.

How could Holmes be traded after he was just acquired? Was it a 3way with the Kings? Or a separate transaction?

This was discussed on draft night so would’ve been a 3-way

If you could get Dallas to offer Bullock, THJ, and Holmes for Ayton and Payne…

Then sign Schroeder

Schroeder/Beal/Book/KD/Holmes with
Goodwin/THJ/Bullock/Craig/Landale off the bench has some decent depth.

Don’t love the big man rotation as I’m not sure we can count on Holmes for anything. I’d definitely go after Plumlee, Bryant, or Eubanks to fill out the 5 rotation.

LOL to the Suns objecting to taking back McGee. I think THJ would have been great for this team, but yeah, I don't love just getting him and Holmes. You have to get Josh Green in that deal.
