It took a half and 8 minutes.

Yep. These are mistakes a young team makes. It will get better.

Like several of you, I found this game uplifting. Lots of guys had good games and played well. Bridges is a real stud; like him a lot. He didn't shoot well but he was nasty on defense. Josh Jackson and Oubre both gave us a lot. Ayton was Mr. Consistency with another double-double. Crawford somehow gives us 9 assists; that's my favorite kind of stat line from him, getting other guys involved.
I want to see what this young team can do with Lonzo Ball. I don't feel super optimistic about the Suns lately, but I feel like if you get a game-changing PG anything can be possible. I just want some hope, and I think a new starting PG could give us that.

Three takeaways from last night to further depress Suns fans:
* Booker leaves the game with a tight hamstring. A continuing trend in the Suns max contract player/franchise cornerstone ...
* Ayton (7-1) outplayed by Farried (generously listed at 6-8).
* Another game, no technical fouls by the NBA's Quiet Man, Kokoskov

I've seen several people mention this, how Coachoskov doesn't work the refs enough. Is this something he should work on? If it isn't in his nature to yell at refs, will it actually help our team for him to have him force it?* Another game, no technical fouls by the NBA's Quiet Man, Kokoskov

Refs react to coaches who let them know they're not getting a fair shake.

Gotta start somewhere. He doesn't need to go full Popovich on them but he's gotta stand up for his guys and give his team a shot. Refs will respect it as long as he's not cursing them out or showing them up. And his guys will fight harder for him rather than him telling them to "just play thru it".
Re: Game Day: Rockets (30-22) @ Suns (11-43), Mon 2/4/19
I guess that is part of it. But most guys on this team whine on every play, and we only have 2.5 above average NBA players. If you want some leeway with the refs, show more effort in your play than with your mouth. (Maybe I am just still really pissed at watching Ayton stand around at the 3pt line down the stretch while people were fighting for boards and he just kept watching and watching... DO SOMETHING!--Even Oubre screamed at him right after).ShelC wrote: ↑Tue Feb 05, 2019 11:44 amGotta start somewhere. Harden is averaging the second most points per minute in NBA history (second to Wilt's historic 1961-62 season), among players averaging more than 5 minutes.

How do you think players feel if they are constantly jobbed by refs, and the coach stands silent on the sidelines?Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Tue Feb 05, 2019 11:25 amI've seen several people mention this, how Coachoskov doesn't work the refs enough. That may work in the Buddhist Passive Resistance league, but not in the NBA.
Refs can mail it in against the Suns because the franchise is terrible and nobody in the league is going to get outraged because this crappy team gets consistently robbed by a couple of calls.

I know what you mean. I fell asleep while watching a BPRL game. Quietest crowd I've ever heard! We don’t have a head coach.
We have a collection of assistant coaches. Igor has yet to realize he’s supposed to be the voice of the team and command respect on their behalf. 18 years of being an assistant developed that habit and personality. There’s a reason he’s never been hired. Can be a genius but if you don’t have the personality and demeanor, you’re not fit to be the top dog.

You could be right. I still think the communication issue shouldn't be overlooked either.specialsauce wrote:We don’t have a head coach.

We should trade for Lonzo and then hire Luke Walton. For the lolz.

Didn’t he win the Euro league as a head coach? Not the NBA but...
