I'm fine with Ayton at PF in certain matchups - Philly with Horford and Embiid, Memphis with JJJ and Valanciunas, or NOLA with Favors and Okafor. But those are specific instances and I assume Baynes would be the 5, but really, they'd be more or less interchangeable. And I think that's really what Jones and Ayton were kind of speaking to. Baynes can give a different look defensively and you can still have Ayton out there for his offense without getting burned on defense. I just don't want to see Ayton chasing around "4s" like Paul George, Gallinari, Tobias Harris, etc.

Oubre can play center!
How about Barrett Hayton or AQ Shipley?

I think the Ayton at the 4 stuff is overblown. I think it’s about perception with him. He doesn’t want to be limited to playing as a screener or just as a post scorer. He envisions himself as someone who can step out and hit jumpers, grab a rebound and push it on the break. I’m not sure when he’ll be ready for all that, but I don’t have a problem with him wanting to expand his game. It’s like the point center stuff with Amare. Ayton wants to feel good about his role. He’s still going to be the biggest guy on the court 95% of the time. He wants to be more KG than Shaq...not sure that’s a bad thing in today’s nba.

Ayton at the 4 would be a disaster. He can't shoot from distance even close to well enough to be a 4. And he's too big and slow for it. I don't know who put that idea in his head, but he shouldn't be a 4; he's a 5 in today's NBA, through and through.

I hadn't thought of him as too big and slow for it. Something to think about. Hmmmm

He's not too big and slow. Not sure where you guys are coming from with that take. Absurd.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

At PF? Again, do you want Ayton chasing around Gallinari? Paul George? Aaron Gordon? Ayton's not "too big and slow" in the normal, general sense and certainly not while playing center but against smaller, faceup PFs (who used to be SFs), yea he is.

I think I like it. Can’t tell whether those horizontalish bands are part of the jersey or an artifact of the photography.

This is what the uniforms should look like, except with the orange and purple reversed of course, and the sunburst on the shorts.

I love how we’ve gone from the gm(not the coach) saying he could maybe play a few minutes at the 4 to him being a primary defender on 3’s playing the 4. That’s quite the leap.

He’s going to play the 5, he just doesn’t want to be limited to being a rim runner/post scorer. He wants to be able to do more things, like handle the ball and shoot from 3. He’s not there yet and I trust that our coaching staff won’t unleash that part of his game until he’s ready.

I’m pretty sure that’s a fake leak. Espo said so on twitter and says he’s seen them.
