Suns sign Frank Kaminsky
Suns sign Frank Kaminsky
Suns have signed Frank Kaminsky to a 2-year, $10m deal.
Re: Suns sign Frank Kaminsky
I liked Frank around the time he was drafted, but I got the sense that he has underperformed in his NBA career. Here are his stats. Last season he averaged 8.6 ppg on .463/.360/.738 splits, 3.5 rebounds, 0.3 blocks, 1.3 assists in 16.1 minutes/game.

Meh...I think I would have preferred Bender at the min. I guess he can shoot. I’m not expecting much playing time for him.
Re: Suns sign Frank Kaminsky
I hope this doesn’t get in the way of resigning Oubre.
Re: Suns sign Frank Kaminsky
Didn’t we get what he brings to the table in Saric? I feel like defense and rebounding could have been addressed before this signing

Has anybody here seen more of Kaminsky lately? How is he on defense? He's a minus defender overall, right? And he's a bit slow and unathletic, right? How is his shooting? His numbers are a bit "meh" but I don't know how he looks to the eye test.

This is dumb. I’d rather keep Bender for a whole lot less.

I'd also rather have Bender. That is a shame.

Suns tried to trade up on draft night to get Kaminsky.
They failed and had to settle for Devin Booker (true story).

A) Doesn't impact signing Oubre at all.
B) His numbers are pretty good in relatively limited minutes (16 minutes per game).
Not sure what the beef is. He's much better than Bender. People really have some odd love fest with Bender. He's SUCKED.

What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

One is our starter. The other is our backup. There's a difference.

If Bender had been more dependable offensively, I would have preferred him - but he wasn't giving us much on that end of the court despite having some obvious ability.

Kaminsky isn't too bad. I think this a good pick-up. Solid, though unspectacular backup.

Re: Suns sign Frank Kaminsky
My initial reaction is "meh." I think I would rather have signed Bender to a near-minimum deal. I know Bender's shooting was off last year, but I loved his defense. And he was young and seemed to me to be more likely to be loyal to the Suns and stay here for low money. But I don't hate this signing.

The biggest differences being Bender's defense and his reluctance to shoot and lack of success when he did last year.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 1:54 pmKaminsky:

You just can't afford to have a stand-still shooter who is afraid to take open shots.

My other question is, was anybody else bidding for Kaminsky? Could we have gotten him for less?
