The suns would match, why would Dallas waste time with it?
They won't match if he gets 17 mil/yr or higher

Well you said 2 yr 15 million a year. That’s a no brainer match. Also, you have no idea what the suns will or won’t match.

Dallas Doesn’t seem interested: they need a proven floor spacer and defensive specialist.

The Suns' priorities shouldn't be "let's go and get our players the best contracts we can, even if we have to trade them."

They have to do what's best for the organization.

4/56. Get it done.
Why wouldn't it be a 5 year contract?

If the 5th year is an option year. I’m not sure Oubre wants a 5 year deal. He may want a new contract sooner rather than later. I think 5 year deals at less than the max are rare.

Gotcha. So it gives him a chance to get an even bigger payday a little earlier on the next contract. And would he still be restricted at that point or not?

+ Oubre would probably not be a starter there with KP and Doncic.

Mavs are now out of the running for Oubre.

Suns are the only team able to sign him now.

I hope you're right and that we sign him soon and that negotiations stay amiable.

The fact that it has dragged on this long signals a deadlock, and I suspect that animus is building. We're p***ing off one o the few people who actually wants to play here. He's a significantly above average SF, and if his 3 point shot ever gets up into the 38% range he's going to be good enough to buy us some wins.

Yeah Gambo was obviously wrong about Oubre just waiting to see if he could get a better offer after Kawhi made his decision. We are obviously not offering anything close to what his camp finds acceptable, or else the deal would be done by now.

It feels like he’s going to be playing on the qualifying offer, unless another team wants to pay him more in a sign-and-trade.

Yep, I guess it depends on how he views himself. If he thinks he’s being underpaid on this contract, he’ll want the option to get his market value sooner rather than later. He’d be unrestricted.

45th out of 98 SFs in RPM. He struggles on defense numerically, but his steal and block numbers, plus his observable "hustle" suggest that number can get better on a team that is chronically bad on defense.

13th out of 80 SFs in PER. This is the one where he stands out. He's actually pretty efficient and doesn't turn the ball over much. If you only include his time in Phoenix, his PER comes in at about 8th or 9th among SFs.

7th in steals among SFs.

3rd in blocks among SFs

Rubio / Bridges / Oubre Jr. could be a pretty defensively solid back court / wings. Too bad none of the can hit the three consistently. If they were all 37%+ shooter from that range, I'd be picking them to win a lot more games and Booker might be expendable.

PER is a garbage stat that no one uses and anything to do with plus minus should be approached with a healthy dose of skepticism. The steals and blocks are good. His on-ball defense is solid to good. I don't know if any of this makes him significantly above average though. None of that makes me want to pay him more than 4/50.

I'm guessing he wants $20m/yr. I hope we don't pay him that much.

As long as we’re not trying to lowball him in the 10-12 million a year range, I’m sure we’ll get a deal worked out. Hopefully this is him wanting 17-18/year and we want to give him 14-15/year.

The longer this goes on the longer the window stays open for Sarver to do something reprehensible to ruin it.
Something such as tying a contract to a donkey to be delivered to Kelly’s doorstep that reads, “Don’t be a jackass. Sign this contract.”

The fact that you cannot completely rule this out is terrifying.
