Phoenix Suns forward Jae Crowder on his response to death threats, his role in lineup

Apparently Crowder has been getting a ton of death threats recently from people. Wow.
What heck is wrong with people?
There's a lot of idiots out there. It's insane. Poor guy.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

I really wish these were taken as seriously as if I sent a letter to the president threatening his life. It wouldn't take Facebook 5 minutes to tell you exactly who sent that message via Insta. But the authorities are not going to ask, and people get so many of these every day, there aren't enough law enforcement personnel to stay on top of it.

I didn't realize there were Suns fans that were this fanatical. The fanbase always strikes me as pretty tame. I would expect this to be a story from Utah, Philly, NY, LA, or Chicago. GS too.

Why is he even getting death threats? I guess I missed that part of the story.

It must be a thing now, have you guys seen the stuff on Gamestop in the stock market? The guy who shorted the stock and tried to talk it down, said he's done, because he's getting death threats and doxxing too.

Phoenix has a lot of asshole bigots. I think it has more to do with that than fandom.

What exactly caused these people to threaten Jae Crowder specifically? Is there something about him or his behavior in particular that upsets them? If it's out of racism, why do they target him rather than the many other black players on our team?

It never ceases to amaze me what people are willing to write in Facebook or Youtube comments publicly, let alone how far the anonymous trolls are willing to go.

The civility on this board is an oasis.

The article made is sound like it was because of his play, which is why I was confused by Superbone's response.

This all feels off. The Suns have been a perennial loser for a decade, and there have been a ton of players and front office personnel to blame for such dark times, but now Jae Crowder is the one that ilicits death threats?! Not that death threats are ever justified, but usually they aren't as random as this. And if someone is so upset about the Suns' play, I really don't think Jae Crowder is the first guy that should be blamed.

Agreed. Thanks go out to the posters and the moderators. It probably helps that many of us have been talking to each other about Suns basketball for 20 years or more.

Obviously nobody knows who has been doing it except the people doing it. We don”t know why or if it was racial. I suspect racial but, it’s only a guess like everyone else’s at this point.
Why would it be racial though? Someone has a problem with Jae Crowder's blackness, but is cool with James Jones, Monty Williams, DeAndre Ayton, Jevon Carter, Langston Galloway, Cameron Johnson, Mikal Bridges, Chris Paul, Damian Jones, Devin Booker, Cameron Payne, and E'Twan Moore?

This. I read the article twice and missed the pet that said it was racially motivated both times. Nice conclusion to jump to though.

And Flagrant Foul, seriously. Every city in every country in the world has bigots. Why single out Phoenix?
