Suns News: Week 6 1/25-1/31

Post by carey »

A total bummer of a week. The two losses in overtime to Denver were quite painful. It's come with the realization that we may not quite be as good as we thought. We're now 8-7 and 1-4 in our last 5 with Devin Booker out for a while. I guess a silver lining would be how close all 3 losses were but I saw a stat that had us ranked 29th in clutch time scoring which is... less than ideal.

Last Week's Games

@ Memphis Loss 108-104
@ Houston WIN! 109-103
vs. Denver Loss 130-126
vs. Denver Loss 120-112

This Week's Games

Wednesday, Jan. 27th vs. OKC 9:00 PM EST
Thursday, Jan. 28th vs. Golden State 9:00 PM EST
Saturday, Jan. 30th @ Dallas 8:30 PM EST

Those two OT losses to Denver drop us to 7th in the West, just a loss away from being out of the playoffs:

https://www.espn.com/nba/standings

That doesn't mean too much, since the standings are so tight. But it just shows how the narratives at this point in the season are flimsy. The Spurs are washed up, right? Well, they're currently a playoff team and just percentage points behind us. Warriors are doomed, right? They're in tenth but just a win away from being a playoff team, and they're looking better lately. Halliburton and the Kings are the League Pass darlings? That's great, but they're 6-10 and nowhere near the playoffs already. Memphis is also starting to look strong with Ja back; they're currently 6th in the West.

I haven't gone into either Denver thread since the 1st page, and I am strongly considering just marking them as read for my own sanity.

It's not pretty in those threads.

And we need to go on a 5-7 game win streak asap.

A blast from the past...Oliver Miller is well, living in metro Phoenix, volunteering as a coach, and is down to his playing weight during college days...

That's great. Really could've been a hell of a player if he could've kept the weight down.

Great potential, lacking in self-discipline.
Part of the problem was he saw Barkley party and thought he could do the same.
Barkley, though, would work his ass of in conditioning to offset his partying ...

It says he's well below his playing weight according to the first article. Good to see!

It was +20 years ago, but I will never forget when the dude had multiple Mercedes in his driveway (all with some personalized version of "Big O" plates) and still gave me zero cents on a tip for delivering his pizzas.

I was always irritated by him calling himself "The Big O"

There's only one "Big O".

Yeah. Miller was the “Really Big O,” or the “Enormous O,” or whatever else you want to call him, but Oscar is unique.

Apparently Crowder has been getting a ton of death threats recently from people. Wow.
