Way to bleeping go Book !!
I could see the bleacher report update as Doncic shot went in the air. I was imagining a bs bank for the win and all of the country slobbering. Now Book will get 1 mention at the end of Sportscenter
Do not watch the ESPN highlights if you don’t want to lose your shit. I imagine a preponderance of Doncic highlights in their loss.

The "Luka for MVP" predictions this preseason were way premature.

He's a great offensive player, but he dominates the ball, is a spotty outside shooter and isn't any help on the defensive end. Put that together with Dallas not being very good and he's not in the MVP race.
They mentioned tonight that if he wins MVP this year, he’d be the youngest ever to do it. I thought to myself, no way is he winning it with this lousy record. We talkin’ MVP?! MVP?!

Chris Paul was a monster tonight.
He sure was. And here we started saying he had lost a step in the other thread.

3-0 against Dallas this year...for some reason we have their number. Ayton is 8-1 against Luka in his career. Ayton - 1?

Just finished...what a game from CP3! Ugly game in the first half for both sides. Paul was the one bright spot for us. Booker showed up in the 2nd half to help bring it home.

Ayton looked decent to start. He was great on the boards. His defense wasn’t great...as others mentioned, he just left the paint 4 or 5 times when his teammate was clearly expecting help. Though he did do well a few times switching onto Luka down the stretch...that one foul he got defending Luka at the end was one of the weakest I’ve seen. What Luka did to deserve the Jordan whistle is beyond me.

Mikal/Cam/Crowder didn’t show up offensively...Bridges did get aggressive at times, but was a little careless with the ball and his shot wasn’t falling. I really think we should flip Crowder and Cam back. Cam hasn’t looked great since entering the starting lineup. Crowder hasn’t looked great off the bench.

Frank is doing alright out there. He’s doing a decent job filling in for Saric...and I’ve even seen him hit a couple 3’s...I had sworn before that he never makes them, haha.

Gallo hit a few big shots, had a rough game defensively though.

Pels up next on Wednesday.
really good recap. my only quibble is that you didn't mention how shitty book was playing on defense tonight. it shouldn't have been close if he just would have given some resistance to his guy. so glad he redeemed himself there.
Good point, he was pretty bad all around through 3 quarters, offense and defense. Obviously looked better on offense in the 4th, but he seemed better defensively too. Forced Luka into a tough 3 one time and held up well on a switch with KP too.

What a weird game to watch. It was a total layup drill for the Mavs for the first several minutes.

I should have had years of counseling after years of KJ’s hamstring troubles that always seemed to happen at the worst times. Seeing Booker start tonight made me think of KJ and all I could think of was be careful and don’t push it. Booker wasn’t having a great game until the second half. I suspect he was being a little extra careful. Paul was having his way tonight. Good to see those two earn their pay.

Frank Kaminsky once again had a good game.

Ayton, two steps forward one step back. He will get doubled in the paint every time and if he brings the ball down they will steal it from him every time. Ball head level or higher at all times in the paint.

I almost feel bad for the Mavs too...almost.

Totally agree that Crowder should be starting and Cam should go back to the bench. When we were struggling, that spot in the lineup wasn’t the reason. Switching back will help the te and both players.

Although, just watched the 4th quarter highlights and Cam played some good defense and got some good rebounds. And I forgot how money Booker was in the 4th before the game winner. Without Paul’s and Booker’s 2nd half brilliance, we don’t win this one.

As long as Dario and Payne are out, I like to see Cam in the starting lineup.

Good to see our guys battle when most of the team didn't have it last night. But that's what you pay CP and Book for and expect them to do. Gotta figure out how to get the perimeter guys going tho because we can't sustain with them shooting so poorly. Need more cuts, more action to get them clean looks. Sometimes you just miss, but I feel like Bridges is losing that in-between game he looked to be making improvements upon. That was a key part of his development and we need someone else who can be a slasher and threat off the dribble.

If we can get Dario back and still keep Frank engaged and playing well, that's a nice boost for the bench. Not a super clean game from Ayton and the coaches MUST work with him on keeping the ball in the post. But he's been a force on the boards at least.

It's easy to root for this team when they play hard and battle. They've responded to Monty since the Thunder game, just need to get Payne and Dario back so we can see what we have at full strength. No Nader or Carter last night while Moore and Gallo got their minutes. I like that Monty's mixing it up a bit to keep everyone engaged and give teams different looks. Wish we would've been better defensively, as the Mavs have the scorers like Richardson and THJ who can get hot.
