Game Day: Suns (10-8) @ Mavs (8-12), Mon, 2/1/2021

Post by bajanguy008 »

Time: 6:30 pm AZ (5:30 pm PT/8:30 pm ET)
Place: American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX
TV: FSAZ, NBATV

Suns take on Mavs for the 3rd time this season but Porzingis should be involved this time. They will surely try to draw DA out of the paint especially after he was cleaning up the glass last game.
Dario and Payne already ruled OUT but Book is being listed as Questionable at the moment. I think the rotations were pretty good last game and we avoided the 2nd quarter disaster but then went to sleep to start the 3rd.
The consistent play for a full 48 is coming soon, let's get to 3 wins in a row.

Go Suns!!!

I would rather Book sit out and us lose than him come back a little too soon and re-aggravate it.

I think DA is 7 and 1 against Luka. Let's keep that win% up there. Dallas is favored by 2.5 in this game.

I'm not scared of Porzingas. He's very talented, but has never turned that reliable scoring. Let him get his 17 FGA at 41%. Go for it, buddy. I'm looking forward to DA blocking his jumper. I just hope Frank doesn't have to guard him.

I just looked up Porzingis's stats out of curiosity. The thing that struck me the most is that while he's averaging 18 and 8, he shoots only 44.9 FG% and 28.6% 3PT.

He's become much more of a stretch big, content on taking 28ft 3s. He needs to coached and pushed to take closer shots but everyone sort of treats him with kids gloves.

I expected so much more out of him under Carlisle.

I was so hot to trade for him a one time. He's not all that.

There was talk of trading up for him on draft night. Deal fell through and we had to settle for Booker.

Looking back on the Porzingis trade: Even though he's been somewhat disappointing in Dallas, you still do that trade 10/10 times if you are the Mavs, right? Here's what they gave up:
The Knicks have agreed to a trade that will send Kristaps Porzingis, Tim Hardaway Jr., Courtney Lee and Trey Burke to the Mavericks, the team announced on Thursday. In return, the Knicks will receive Dennis Smith Jr., two future first-round picks, and the expiring contracts of DeAndre Jordan and Wes Matthews.
They gave up two picks and a big wad of cap space, but they got back a lot of talent in Porzingis, Hardaway Jr, and the others. I still think they "won" that trade and that they have a pretty decent foundation. Looks to me like they're missing some shooting and probably regret not being able to keep guys like Seth Curry around.

Kleber could cause some problems for us. 6'10", good shooter, can rebound and block shots.

Ya they moved Curry for Richardson, thinking they could trade offense for defense, but their defense hasn’t really improved and their offense has tanked. Getting KP back up and running should help though.

At the time, Smith was thought to have potential, but he's almost out of the league now. Talent for Talent, Dallas 'won', but now they are stuck building around KP with him and Hardaway Jr making almost half of the cap. I don't think the trade ultimately makes them a dangerous playoff team.

Knicks fans think otherwise despite almost nothing to show for it unless those picks turn out well. DSJ just went down to the GLeague.

KP is coming back from an injury. The same thing happened last season, where he started out slow and played pretty far away from the basket. By the end of the season he was killing it. And then he injured his leg again. Time is a flat circle.

Have the Knicks used those picks yet from Dallas?

Saying this with your avatar is really disappointing.
