2021 All-Star selections

Post by Mori Chu »

Looks like Book didn't make it. :-(

Thoughts? Who deserved / didn't deserve their slot? Who got screwed?

Bam is really the only person who got screwed I think. He’s better than Vuc and on a better team. Some eye-popping numbers getting left out...might be time to bump teams up to 15.

Mitchell got the nod over Booker due to record. Suns have the 4th best record in the League, by the way.

Ya I don’t really have a problem with that...their numbers are pretty identical. 25/4/4 for Book, 24/5/4 for Mitchell. Book is more efficient scoring, Utah has the better record.

I think Booker's slow start to the season is a big reason for this. He really has turned it on over the last 3-4 weeks playing out of his mind. At the end of the day, I think this just fuels him. I don't think too many people are gonna want to be competing against this man - and his team.

Exactly. I hope it really pisses Booker off and he makes the league pay on the court in the second half.

I don't really consider a player "snubbed" unless he clearly deserved to be on the team over someone else who was named to the team. That's not the case with Booker this year.

Same could be said for CP. Slow start for sure. How to fix it is that you take Zion fucking Williamson out because he’s only good at scoring and doesn’t make his team win because they have a losing record. But it’s politics as usual

Booker over Zion for sure though maybe not if you enjoy the PER stat because that has him as the 6th best player in the league.
Go Suns!

You could definitely argue BI should have been their AS selection.

I think you could also argue that, at 13-17, 11th place in the West and tied for 21st in the league, and underperforming expectations especially on the defensive end, the Pelicans didn't necessarily need an All-Star representative this year.

Zion is averaging 25 a game on a .656 TS%. And he’s been better than that lately. He’s a 27/6/4/1/1 guy with a .710 TS% in February. He’s an all star.

On a individual basis, if Booker deserved a spot over anyone, it’s Mitchell.

I'd gladly have more wins than two guys as All-Stars.

Exactly. People can STFU about Zion. He's a turnstile on defense. His team has a losing record. But he scores at high percentage by being point blank at the rim most of the time. What a star!

As someone else said elsewhere:

Coaches in past seasons; 'Devin Booker is putting up big numbers but needs to win more.'

Coaches this season; 'Devin Booker is winning but needs to put up bigger numbers.'

It's bullshit.

What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton
