Obviously fake. We are going to resign Rubae after CP3 leaves us in the offseason.

Random one :) but Barbs is not a name I thought I would see in this. The last season wasn't half bad tbh

Remember that highly-coveted, much-talked about, and frequently-traded 2021 Miami first-round draft pick? It ends up being #18.

guys in their 7th season shouldn't be winning this. And honestly, he was pretty good his last year on the Pels. If he wasn't in NY, he wouldn't have won it.

Hmm, don’t you think improvements are more impressive later in players careers as opposed to when they are supposed to be improving?

You’re right that Randle has had some impressive years, but he’s never shot like this before...and the shots he’s taking are really tough shots. His play has been pretty huge for NY. He’s the reason they are in the playoffs and not a lotto team.

Who would you have given it to?

He is a less efficient scorer this year than his last year in L.A. and his year in LA. He is just taking a lot more shots and added 3s. Even with the over 40% from 3 this year, he had a higher eFG in those Laker/Pels days.

As for it being impressive that he took a jump in year 7, as I said I don't think it was a jump. It was an increase in role, taking more shots than ever before. But he led the Knicks to the playoffs, so he is going to get the accolades.

I am not sure who "should have" won. Of all the awards, this one baffles me each year; it is just a weird award to give. If it is a guy in his first few years, the counter argument is "of course he is getting better, he is still learning the NBA." If it is guy later in his career, it is "he is finally living up to his potential!"

I agree. He's put up numbers before when given the opportunity but the Lakers and Pels never really went all in with him. He's gotten better in general but this year had more to do with coaching IMO and Thibs giving him the ball and saying "we're playing thru you".

I'd prefer to see a guy get the MIP award at this point in his career rather than some 2nd or 3rd year guy who made improvement simply by not being 19 any more.

Randle went from a guy two teams had moved on from to becoming selected for All-NBA. He deserves the MIP this year.

Utah Jazz defensive pillar Mark Eaton dies from injuries received in a bicycle accident.
Drafted by the Suns (age/draft eligible) but signed with Jazz when drafted several years later.

Randle looked A LOT slimmer to me this year; dare I say proportional, and that, along with Trolls offense thru him, is what made him effective.

He went from league-journeyman to starter in a year; I'd call that most improved

Fuck this noise. Monty should've won last year and this year. The Knicks Knick'd last year so the improvement just looked that much more dramatic under Thibs.

Monty was the choice of his peers. That probably means more to him than the media vote. Bunch of writers who think they know better than the coaches. Feh.

Yeah, those grapes are sour.
