Thanks for the thread, carey. Looks like a week full of winnable games. Let's not screw them up ...

I was curious....Craig signed with the Bucks on 11/22 after deciding to pass on our offer (he signed for the minimum so I doubt we were offering more). Then we signed Crowder 11/29 after a few days of recruitment so I wonder if we would've gone after Crowder had we gotten Craig? We gave Crowder a larger deal so maybe he was always in the plans, or maybe he was a high level fall back plan. Now we have both guys so it worked out.

I thought Crowder agreed pretty quickly. He may not have officially signed until a few days later, but I remember him coming to an agreement in the first day or 2, right?

Yea you're right, he agreed on the 21st. Still interested in knowing if one affected the other. Maybe Craig was always viewed as a depth piece for the minimum ala Gallo and Moore.

Possibly, Craig may have waited to see what Crowder would do. Thought he’d get more playing time in Milwaukee... which do we know why he wasn’t playing? Seems like Milwaukee needs bodies, he’s a solid player.

Not sure why he wasn't playing and it almost looks like the Bucks traded for an older, smaller, less athletic version of him in PJ Tucker. EJ wondered the same thing last night about his lack of PT in Milwaukee.

He also may have wanted to join a contender in the offseason, as we were an unknown quantity at that time.

Yeah, if two teams both offered you a minimum deal last offseason, the Bucks looked to be a much better choice. Glad we are showing up now.

My guess is the Bucks didn't play him due to his lack of shooting. His offense can hurt a team if you actually need shooting from the 4 position.

Ya you’re probably right. Giannis is their non-shooter. System fit too. He was just a stand at the 3-point line guy in Bud’s system. We don’t really do that. Everyone is expected to move, cut, drive, etc. Craig is doing a lot more in his short stint here than he’s really ever done in his career.

He played more at the SF for them, and shot over 36% from 3. But once he fell out of the rotation, he didn't really come back. They had that bad losing streak and he played during it. They sat him after it and they went on a winning streak. I think that kind of stuck with him/them. Which doesn't make much sense, because he was only playing 10 minutes a night (and shooting 50% from 3) during the streak.

Craig has been a nice surprise. He is really physical and has a high motor. I agree shot selection can improve, but overall has been a great shot in the arm. And for free. Feels nice to be the ones sending out cash considerations in exchange for talent, for a change.

Craig makes about 2-3 bonehead plays per game. Usually it's a bad shot he hurls up that clangs off the rim. But it's forgiveable if you look at the rest of his game. I wish he'd just decide not to take any jumpshots, especially from 3; then he'd be essentially a perfect bench hustle/defensive forward. I also think I'm less annoyed with his flaws given his low cost and the fact that our other bench forwards also make lots of boneheaded plays (Nader and Kaminsky in particular) so it's kind of a wash.

He’s shouting 38% from 3. He needs to be willing to take those shots and there’s no reason at that percentage he should stop.

I thought they traded him after the deal for PJ Tucker was set. To me, it was a roster space move, and they obviously preferred Tucker since they gave up assets to get him. I'd have been happy to add Tucker to the Suns, but I would've have advocated giving up anything to get him, and I'm not certain that he's really an upgrade over Craig right now.
