Game Day: Jazz (38-12) @ Suns (35-14), Wed 4/7/21

Post by Superbone »

Time: 7:00 pm AZ (7:00 pm PT/10:00 pm ET)
Place: Phoenix Suns Arena, Phoenix, AZ
TV: BSAZ, ESPN

BIG game tonight. The teams with the two best records in the NBA face off. This game has got it all. It's on national TV on ESPN. It's got a celebrity attending but not who you might guess. It's not Drake, Spike Lee, or Jack Nicholson, but the English actor of Monty Python fame and a favorite of mine, John Cleese. The bad news is that he's a Jazz fan. He'll be there with his daughter.
Each squad features young, high-scoring All-Star guards Mitchell (25.4 points per game) and Devin Booker (25.9), veteran All-Star point guards Mike Conley Jr. (16.6 points and 5.5 assists per game) and Chris Paul (16.0 points, 8.8 assists), and talented bigs Rudy Gobert (14.6 points, 13.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks) and Deandre Ayton (14.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game).
Go Suns!!!

Time to send a message. Hoping we come out focused and sharp. I think we will. Should be a battle.

Good thing the Warriors have the night off so we have an opening for a nationally televised game

I really wish I had gotten my vaccine a couple weeks earlier--I would be there in person tonight to cheer on the Suns.

Monty's been running a bench lineup lately that includes both Jevon and Craig. It didn't look good against Houston and I don't think it's tenable offensively.

I don't get his rotations. Or I should say, I don't get the frequent change of who gets time and who doesn't.

But guys that don't play for 10 games then get thrown back out there are usually producing at a level where they didn't miss a beat.

I think it’s a combination of trying to find rotations that could work in the playoffs and keeping guys they might need ready by giving them occasional minutes.

I figured he gave Carter a chance to play when the Suns played against pretty terrible teams we are supposed to beat.

Well definite measuring stick game for DA
It's a no win situation for him most nights with the fans imo.
We beat Utah in the first meeting and DA was a non factor as he usually struggles with Gobert so looking forward to see if EJ wish comes through (games against lesser opponents build his confidence for these tougher matchups)

I think he's been quite solid last couple weeks now so to be continued

I don't think so. As long as he continues to show aggression and doesn't take plays off, the fans don't have a problem with him. The occasional dunk helps too.

Early in the Rockets game (I was watching the Houston broadcast), Ayton missed a wide open bunny. Houston announcer Worrell said, "I would have thought he would have dunked that." I said to Bill through my monitor, "You obviously don't know Ayton very well."

Is he back, or just not barred from playing? I thought it took Cam and Dario a week or 10 days after leaving protocols before they played again.

How long was Frank out? Seemed quick, which makes me think he just had an exposure and never actually tested positive, but maybe he was out longer than I thought.

March 19th was his last game. Not sure if it was immediately following it, but if so he has been out for 18 days.

EDIT==I think he was just benched for a while. Some things I found showed that end of March was his first game missed due to H/S protocols.

No, same as before as far as I could tell by the tickets they were selling. Why, did you read something about full capacity?
