Game Day: Suns (45-18) @ Thunder (21-43), Sun 5/2/21

Post by Superbone »

Time: 5:00 pm AZ (5:00 pm PT/8:00 pm ET)
Place: Chesapeake Energy Arena, Oklahoma City, OK
TV: BSAZ/NBALP

The Thunder got crushed today with Poku and Dort out. Now they have to turn around and play the league leading Phoenix Suns the next night. This is the beginning of a Suns three game road trip. I don't know what the Thunder's injury situation will for Sunday night's game at the time of this writing. I haven't seen it ruled out that both Poku and Dort could return as well as it possibly being the return of Paul's buddy, SGA.

Go Suns!!!

It would be the most Suns thing ever to gain the league's best record and then lose it 2 days later to the lottery-bound Thunder.

Add in the fact that the Thunder lost tonight, at home, by 57 points to an Indiana team that's not exactly a world-crushing force this year, to make it just a little bit more classic Suns-y.

I don’t know what the playoff pecking order is going to be. Do the Suns try to win out and take who’s ever there or do they rest some people and maybe lose a game or two to get the seed they want? Obviously a healthy Lakers team is going to be a problem for any team. It would suck having to start with them. The top 4 teams have pulled away from the rest of the pack and then there are six teams 9.5 to 14 games behind fighting for the last four spots that have a chance. I’m hoping the Suns just play it out, but if it comes down to the last game of the season and losing it gives them an easier matchup I might think about it. The Grizzly’s have the 8th spot today. The Warriors and the Spurs are a half game back. The Lakers are trending downward. I can see the Lakers easily ending up in 7th and us in 2nd. I am kind of scared of the Spurs. They kicked our ass last game somehow. Pop must personally know the old Gypsy lady.

We already have, since the Jazz beat the Raptors yesterday. We’re back to #2.

Technically...we’re still tied in the loss column which is what really matters

agreed. as long as we don't end up with more losses than anyone, we will be the #1. I don't think the Lakers are going to fall to the 8th seed, and we shouldn't be scared of the Warriors, Grizzlies, Spurs, or Blazers. I am hoping the Lakers catch the Mavs, though.

I think the road to the finals goes through at least one of the LA teams, and I would prefer to play them after they play each other.

Ah, I see...Clippers/Lakers in the 4/5 game. I feel like the Lakers are probably gonna end up 6th...Dallas schedule is just too easy. I think I’d rather face Lakers over Clippers, but ultimately I’m just focused on our own team. I’ll play whoever at this point. Would be cool if the LA teams could face each other early on though.

If you can get home court advantage throughout the playoffs, you do it. Especially when it's the Jazz we're talking about. I know we gave them one their only 4 home losses, but we don't want to have to win in Utah.

Especially when it is looking like many places will be fully open/full capacity for the playoffs.

I think that's a dangerous game. I think we should just play out the schedule while doing what's best for our team health wise going into the playoffs. I wouldn't try to strategize our ending position. Our guys don't seem to want a rest so just play it out. Maybe by the last game a win or loss doesn't affect our positioning so we rest guys but other than that, just play to win every game.
