Pacers fans have got to be mad. A year ago, they looked like a serious threat in the East with the return of Oladipo.
Yea injuries really derailed them plus whatever all that drama is with the coach obviously isn't ideal. I can't see them winning their Play-In game plus I rather see Wiz or Hornets get in anyway (I wonder if Westbrook and Embiid still have their beef  )

I just not convinced that the Nets have the character to win it all.

I'm looking forward to the Suns vs 76ers in the finals.

I haven't heard an update lately about the Nets injury situation. Are all of their guys expected to be back for the playoffs? I know Harden's been out, and KD has been coming back gently from his leg injury.

Harden said he's confident he will be but know player quotes are usually optimistic so guess nobody is 100% certain on his status but he clearly was the one keeping things running optimally

Kenny Smith said the same thing last night, that #7 shouldn't need to play. It should be 9 v 10 playing for the right to play 8 but it's all a moot point now

I don't know if I agree about the 7 seed being exempt from the play-in. I think part of what's fun about the spectre of the play-in is that it makes more teams play hard and compete to win all the way to the end of the regular season; it makes more regular season games matter for more teams. Right now the play-in affects quite a wide range of teams:

- The teams just above the 7 seed (5, 6) are frantically trying to stay above 7
- The 7-8 seeds are trying to avoid dropping to #9 so they don't have to win 2 play-in games
- The 9-10 seeds are trying to move up to 8 to avoid having to win 2 play-in games, and trying to avoid falling to #11 and dropping out of the play-in
- The 11-12 seeds (potentially) are still trying to win in the hopes that they can get to #10

This is really a nice ripple effect on the league. There are now 5-6 teams per conference (seeds 6-11 at a minimum, perhaps 5-12) who are playing harder and trying to win more because of the tournament. I think it's good for the game.

It's actually pretty impressive that the Jazz have kept that top spot without Mitchell for a significant amount of time.

Their schedule has been a cakewalk...only played 3 games against teams above .500(Lakers sans AD/Lebron twice...and they lost 1 of them, and us...which of course they lost.)

OK, I didn't look at their schedule. Good to know!

Just saw your other post that it was removed from the ESPN schedule. I have the ESPN games auto-set to record. I'll have to checkout this Nuggets/Jazz game as well! Let's hope for a Suns victory and Jazz loss.

Ya...getting the 1 seed is still the best way to avoid the Lakers in round 1

I really want to see the Lakers meet the Clips in round 1 or 2 so that we wouldn't have to play both.

I really wish they would add some divisions games to the schedule and lessen the other divisions. Then you give each division lead the top seeds (based on record), then the #2s in each are in, then a play in for the remaining 4 teams with the next best records. It would be a nice balance to allow the divisions leaders to get a spot, and allow the teams with good records but in great/competitive divisions a chance to prove themselves in the play-in.

Jazz won...Lakers lost to Portland and dropped to 7th and gave the tiebreaker to Portland. I think Lakers are pretty locked in to the play-in now. I think we’re playing them round 1 unless we can catch Utah...of course maybe I’m getting too far ahead...Portland still has to play Utah, Denver, and us.

Problem is when you get a division without a strong team.

Miami/Atlanta would get the 3 seed in the East. Dallas would also get the 3.

Even if LA finishes at 7 that doesn’t mean they’ll stay at 7. They could easily lose to Golden State and fall to the 8th seed, or even miss the playoffs entirely.
