I was talking more about the things he was accused of saying or doing that didn’t sound like the Monty I saw for his duration here. I wasn’t talking about his coaching skills or lack of it. Did he really say all those things being posted or were those just people messing around?

Are you talking about what Marty posted? That was all fabrication on his part for comedic effect.

The Pistons are a league-worst 2-20 so far (a .091 winning percentage), on a 19-game losing streak. It doesn’t seem that Monty was able to turn a young team around this time.

Also, for all the Jalen Duren hype early in the season, all of his numbers have come way down. People wondered why I was focusing on his scoring (now down to 12.6 ppg) but that was because that’s exactly what Monty has been criticized for, going all the way back to Anthony Davis: that he doesn’t know how to properly utilize big men offensively.

And of course, once again, if your big man is not getting touches and scoring opportunities then his other numbers are going to come down as well (in the vast majority of cases—there are some exceptions like Gobert of course).

He’s now out for a couple weeks with a sprained ankle, so that losing streak may get even worse.

And of course there’s the whole playing favorites/putting players in the doghouse issue happening all over again: Pistons front office unhappy with Monty Williams' usage of Jaden Ivey

He never changes his ways.

Detroit's biggest problem is that they just don't have very good players. But even then you'll usually back into an occassional victory.

Monty's successes here in Phoenix were clearly more a case of having the personnel than a case of a coach lifting them above their talent level.

All for $12 million a year.

25 in a row. Do they get to 30? They're 1 away from the all time record.

I think Detroit's losing streak will continue until Feb 14 when they finally get a win on the road.

How many in a row will that make it? 40?

I don't think they will lose that many. I admit that their schedule looks bleak, but at some point even an underpowered NBA team gets lucky and pulls out a win. I think they'll lose a handful more and then get a win.

They have now tied two other teams for the NBA's all-time longest losing streak in a single season, and are two losses away from the overall record.

I think they set the record and then finally win one within 5 games after they've set it.

Seeing this makes me think Monty is just trying to torpedo his career. Must not like the winters in Michigan. 🤣
