Ayton out for at least a week with an ankle sprain.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Here’s a fun thread showing what Mikal is doing in the short roll early on…some good stuff

You guys are crazy, KD is averaging 33 points a game on a 66% TS. We’re good, but we’re not winning a title. We could win a title with KD
Okay but who's your starting center and replaces the other production from the inevitable key pieces included with Ayton you trade away?
I mean, the Warriors won with Kevon Looney. I think Suns would be fine with rolling with Biyombo, Landale, and signing Derrick Favors off the street.

Hard to ask for more than KD, but I’d try to pick off a guy like Claxton too.

Ayton, Crowder, CamJ, 4 1sts for

KD and Claxton
They're not including Claxton in that deal.

Sure, I guess his 33 ppg are great but his team is 1-4, they are hardly winning, at all.
Come on sunset. I haven't been on the Trade-for-Durant bandwagon, but to hold the Nets record against him is just silly.

Gotta feel for KD. Despite being a great player, his total +/- of -59 so far this season is seventh-worst in the league. That must be extremely frustrating.

Booker is tied (with Donovan Mitchell) for best at +78. (Book has done it in slightly fewer minutes than Mitchell, FWTW.)

I know, INF, just wanted to say we would gut our roster by dealing DA, Bridges and a ton of picks for him so we would have Book, KD, CP3 on his last legs and a bunch of bench guys and that situation look similar to current Nets one to me, only without drama.

Nobody wants to trade DA and Bridges and a ton of picks for KD.

I’m old enough to remember all the way back to May and June when everybody did.

IMO this is a great example of why +/- is just a completely garbage stat. KD is not the reason the Nets are doing badly; they have a deeply flawed roster and don't play good defense. KD scores 30+ every night and is an amazing player. His +/- is completely disconnected from his individual play and says nothing about him. I don't see why we even look at that as though it were a meaningful statistic.

Don’t worry Jeremy, I’d still trade your guy for him without blinking. I’d trade any one of Cam, Mikal or DA plus a boatload of picks. But not two.

Yeah, that’s what I mean. Almost everyone was on board with trading two, and most were on board with trading all three, for KD back in May and June. Now nobody will trade more than one. An interesting change of tune.

I wasn’t suggesting it as a measure of individual play. KD is one of the best players in the league, not one of the worst. I’m just saying it must be extremely frustrating for him to be constantly getting his ass kicked despite his excellent individual play.

BTW, another funny quirk of the data: the Nets are -54 on the season, which means they’re actually winning their non-Durant minutes.

Perhaps but that would be the Nets` price for KD. We would basically gut our future for a season or two of championship window.

I am positive we can be champs with our current core, our team look great on the floor.

I think everyone wanted to keep Mikal out, but some of us were willing to include him if we had to. Times have changed though, there’s no free agents left to restock or time to rebuild the roster so I wouldn’t include Mikal anymore.

I went back through a few pages of the KD thread and didn’t see any posts from people willing to trade all 3.

Starting to look like CamJ + Crowder + Saric + picks for KD, let's see.

I don’t know if I ever said one way or the other on moving Ayton, Mikal, CamJ, and 4 1sts…That would have been a hard pill to swallow and I think I would’ve needed assurances that free agents were coming or we were adding guys like Claxton/Mills to the trade.

Now I wouldn’t do that. I would hesitate to include Bridges at all and wouldn’t do both Bridges and Ayton. I think the most I’d do is Ayton/CamJ and picks
