#4 PHOENIX SUNS Record: 2-1

OffRtg: 110.0 (17) DefRtg: 104.0 (4) NetRtg: +6.0 (9) Pace: 96.8 (27)

The opener on Wednesday brought a little deja vu, with the Suns trailing the Mavs by as many as 22 points early in the third quarter. But they kept in touch and turned the game around with a 27-7, fourth-quarter run, in which Devin Booker scored or assisted on 21 of the 27 points. Seeing them close a game without Chris Paul on the floor was strange, but Damion Lee made Monty Williams look like the Coach of Year by hitting the game-winner when the Mavs got the ball out of Booker’s hands.

Clutchness can be fleeting and the Suns lost in overtime in Portland two nights later. But before he missed the game-tying free throws, Deandre Ayton did get a pair of encouraging defensive stops (one block when it looked like was beat and one steal) on Damian Lillard drives. The big man has finished well in the paint but has just seven free throw attempts to go with his 44 shots from the field. As a team, the Suns have been outscored by 7.0 points per game (the league’s fourth-worst discrepancy) from the line.

The Suns’ longest homestand of the season (six games over 12 days) begins Tuesday with a visit from the champs. Phoenix-Golden State games last season were must-watch events because the two teams were a combined 35-5 before the first meeting. (4-2 doesn’t bring quite the same amount of juice.) That was the 17th of 18 straight wins for the Suns, with the streak coming to an end at Golden State (and without Booker) three days later.

6. Suns
The Suns should have been 3-0 had it not been for Damian Lillard’s 41 points a couple of nights ago. Still, Phoenix is looking pretty sharp. They hope to remain that way as they face the Warriors next in what should be a titanic tussle.

No prob...still waiting on more news and power rankings to drop.

When I look at the Pels roster, I just don't know how we guard them up front. I feel like Zion's going to break CamJ in half.

Not if he breaks himself in half first.

I don’t love what the Bucks have to offer…it’s like Grayson Allen or Pat Connaughton. Maybe they are slight upgrades on Shamet. I’d need Jordan Nwora coming back to trade to Milwaukee.

Yea nothing there that's attractive in a trade. I don't think I'd be able to root for Grayson Allen.

Ingles would actually be kind of interesting if he were healthy. What do we know about their rookie, Marjon Beauchamp?

Grayson Allen would probably be our best bench player even tho he’s not shooting well to start the season.

Grayson Allen is a career 39% 3pt shooter. FWIW Crowder is 34.6% career 3pt and 41.7% FG (!) career. Allen is a grade A piece of **** and it'd be hard to root for him as a Sun. I don't know him super well; he's a poor defender, right? So that'd be a clear downgrade from Jae. Basically an offense-only Jae who's not as good a defender and is dirty as hell on defense and tries to hurt people. Great.

I can't root for Grayson Allen. He's a trash human being. I don't really like anything they would have to offer. Ingles, No. Connaughton, meh. Beauchamp, ok i guess but not if it means Grayson.

He just doesn’t solve any of our real problems. We need a 3rd guard, he’s a 4th guard. He doesn’t have size to play the wing. He’s not a creator. He’s a slight upgrade on Shamet, who duplicates Shamet…you add no one to the rotation as it would take Shamet out.

I’d tell Milwaukee sorry, if we still have Jae in December when Nwora is eligible to be traded and/or Ingles is closer to returning, then we can talk. Or go find a team that wants Allen and will give up something we want.

Portis would be awesome. Don’t see them doing that tho.

I would take Ingles if his injury looks to be healing fully. I always liked him. But I do think we should keep shopping around and shouldn't settle for scraps.

He's the only one I'd be interested in, but no way the Bucks do that. Nwora is also good, but not enough.

One of my current ideal targets is a Charlotte package of Rozier and (cover your eyes, Sauce) Oubre.

Surprised I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, but pretty sure the Portland game ended our streak of games won with a lead heading into the 4th.

Yes

This works

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=28s5ltdu

Craig, Crowder, Saric, and Payne for Rozier/Oubre

We’d have to add draft capital…tried to find a way to do Hayward/Rozier, but that’s trickier salary wise unless we wait till Dec 15

Being a -7 from the FT line is not a great omen. We really need Ayton to step up that area of his game. He just needs to move towards the basket more.
