And we’re talking about Siakam as well.

Steph Curry
Luka Doncic
Damian Lillard
Kyrie Irving
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Ja Morant
I think he's firmly in this group..
DeAaron Fox $30.3M
Jalen Brunson $27.7M
Tyrese Haliburton
Jamal Murray $31.6M
Trae Young
LaMelo Ball
Seems to me like his next contract will be right at market value.
I like Fred VanVleet in general, but he's having a horrid season. 18/4/6 on 37.6% FG (!!), 32.8% 3pt, PER 15.7. His shooting is awful. BTW, he has never been an efficient shooter. He shot just 40.3% FG last season and averages 40.1% FG for his whole career, oof. His career 3pt% is 37.5%, so maybe he can revert to form there. But this is just a bad year for him. And I don't love those assist numbers if we're looking for a starting PG; he should be getting more assists than that if he's running an offense. I know Siakam handles the ball a fair amount, but I don't like the numbers.
Re: Suns News: Week 14 (1/16 - 1/22)
Ya but you can bail on CP3 if you have him and he’d just be your 3rd option…
FVV/Booker/Bridges/Siakam…Trade Crowder for another piece…use exceptions…Payne is still here. You’ve got the Saric/Shamet contracts to also trade.
The point is you’d have your top 4 and that’s the hardest to put together. You can piece the rest together. Will it be expensive? Maybe, but who cares if Ishbia is willing to pay. You’re at least paying for guys who can do stuff with the ball.
When does CP3’s contract gaurantee? Would we have time to trade him after the season and allow a team to cut him and save a bunch of money? That could be enticing to a luxury tax team or someone trying to create cap space.

Kinda funny how you countered every negative point you made about him. I'm not at all worried that he'll be worth the money on his next contract. He's 28 and entering his prime. This is when its OK to pay as much as necessary for all-star players.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 9:14 pm

I wouldn't expect that you've watched much of the Raptors this year but they're a mess, it's not just FVV who's struggling. He was on fire against the Bucks tonight and there was a late possession where Barnes basically ignored him to get the ball to Anunoby in the post with under 8 seconds left on the shot clock. Anunoby didn't convert and FVV's body language made it clear how he felt about being more or less waived off. Something isn't right in that locker room.

I don’t love FVV either, but he’s solid. Can do a lot worse for a 3rd option. He’s also a good defender, even if he’s a bit limited by size.

Fully guaranteed on 6/28. Seems like too narrow of a window, but maybe?

Ya that’s tough, you can make trades then, but not many do.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 9:44 pmFully guaranteed on 6/28. Seems like too narrow of a window, but maybe?

My only hesitation with FVV is his size. I want a best 5 lineup with Booker as the smallest player.

Van Vleet would be a solid acquisition.
He's sort of a smaller Marcus Smart -- would give the Suns some needed chutzpah.

Window is open again ... blue skies ahead?
Re: Suns News: Week 14 (1/16 - 1/22)
I'm not opposed to VanVleet, but I just think that giving away a decade's worth of picks should only be done if you're sure you are putting together a contender. Would we be a top contender in the West for years to come after that trade?
Re: Suns News: Week 14 (1/16 - 1/22)
It feels like we’re forgetting the most important piece of the trade in Siakam. I think Booker/Siakam/FVV/Bridges means you’ll be in contention for the foreseeable future. They are all under 30.
No one is suggesting giving up 4 1sts for FVV

After a dominant 5 rebound performance...
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton
Re: Suns News: Week 14 (1/16 - 1/22)
^ It's not an ideal quote, but I feel like there's not much you can say. We're missing half our team, and we're losing games because of it. Nobody is happy about that. I wish Ayton could put the team on his back more, but I don't want to overanalyze every little quote he gives after a loss.
