CHRIS PAUL TO BE WAIVED?

Post by ShelC »

Figured this was thread worthy....something that's been talked about already as a possibility. No info on whether he'll be back on a lesser deal or be picked up by another team

No indication they even want him to come back...hmmm.

I wouldn’t say no indication. Gambo has been saying he could come back at the minimum. Windy implied it too

Hmm, wow. So it's really happening. If this is the end of his time in Phoenix, we'll have to reflect on that, but I guess I'll wait to see whether he re-signs with us first.

Well we need that $7 million per year player for sure. CP3 couldn’t play in the postseason. It would he cool if he wants to sign on a minimum deal. My bet is he goes to LA.

I am just waiting for the magical words “ineligible to resign with Phoenix”

He would still count $15 million against the cap if he signs for minimum. I am hoping they stretch him

If we resign for the minimum, we can use the TPMLE. If we stretch, we can use the full MLE and BAE

I meant from Haynes' two tweets or any other sources following the actual decision. Either way, whether the Suns want him or not, I doubt Chris will want to come back for the minimum.

Fair, the Haynes tweet didn’t say anything. We’ll see what CP3 decides

Unless this was partly his decision.
Jones and Vogel out, Lue or Lee in, draft Grant Nelson or Tyler Kolek.

This feels like a formality to him coming back on the minimum. That’s what’s all the smoke has been thus far.

If we were gonna stretch his contract, I think the wording would’ve been more clear front the jump. Just what I think.

Plus our $5M TPE.

So that’s what $6.8 million (tax payer) and $4.3 million?

Even without stretching, we can use either most or all of the full MLE (about $12.4M).

There’s risk here. If we’re not stretching him and he goes to the Lakers or whatever, that’s a huge miss. He may have given us a wink wink deal, but some other team may still step up with a big money offer a la Carlos Boozer. He no longer has his buddy Monty here, so that may be a factor in his decision making.

Can we decide after the fact to stretch his salary?

We can only trade someone into that.
