Officially a Valley Boy. How many years have we been talking about getting this guy. I hope it’s not too late.

I thought this was an interesting point. Thad is much more like Nurk than our other bigs; he's a great passer and facilitator. Having Young lets us play the way we play with Nurk, even when Nurk is resting. We are by far our most effective with Nurk on the floor, so this is good for our at-times-stagnant offense.

Yep, I’m hoping he can keep the offense moving and provide a release for when teams trap our ball handler during the games Nurk just can’t play a lot of minutes. He gives us a viable small ball 5 that let’s us keep the same offense.

I like the idea of Young at small ball 5 with KD, Royce and 2 of Book, Beal, Grayson and EG. That feels much more viable than the KD and 4-guard lineups we’ve played to this point.

Yup
This is where I'm at also with my expectations

Could we use an athletic forward who could finish at the rim and block shots ? SURE

But as seen with how effective our numbers are with Nurk.
You just can't take for granted the value of "a big" who can handle the ball and make reads/passes
So Thad Old :) bball IQ is his value and as Nurk shows, if you can't jump over a book lol that you can still be integral to our offense

I also still have a sneaky feeling that his IQ and quick hands gonna make him more reliable on D than some expect again despite now being Thad Old
