Game Day: Suns (43-31) @ Pelicans (45-29), Mon 4/1/24

Post by Superbone »

Time: 5:00 pm AZ (5:00 pm PT/8:00 pm ET)
Place: Smoothie King Center, New Orleans, LA
TV: AZ Family 3TV/NBATV

The inconsistent and often lackluster Phoenix Suns visit the New Orleans Pelicans Monday evening on NBA TV. The game has large playoff implications as do most of the Suns’ remaining schedule. Every team the Suns face for the last 8 games of the regular season are 10 games or greater above .500.

That is a pretty staggering fact. This stretch will pretty much make or break our season. You probably know where my money is, but I'd love to be wrong and see them rise to the occasion.

If they hold true to their recent pattern of playing one good game followed by a crappy ass game this should be a win.

Their records don't tell the whole story. Each of these teams except the Clippers has injury issues, though Donovan Mitchell just recently returned for the Cavs and the Clippers have struggled of late. It may not be as bad as it looks (though who knows with this team).

^ And some of them may decide to rest guys for the playoffs, which in theory would help us, though we usually choke when an opponent sits their star player.

I think Booker and his love life have fucked with his season, especially lately. Am I alone in thinking this way? I've alluded to the Jenner relationship and a few other things over the past 18 months or so. It seems like a logical explanation for a lot of things.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Definitely hasn't been the Booker we've come to know and love this season.

This season was doomed once Book started wearing the headband as his regular thing. Disgusting. It’s the source of all thar is bad with this season.

Seriously? I have to listen to Antonio Daniels color commentary? He sounds like an excited puppy if he could talk.

Book came to play tonight. 22 in the first. 46-28 end of one. That’s better.

Wow. 36 points with 3:40 left in the first quarter. They came to play tonight.

Let's see if they can sustain it for more than 1 quarter.
Jones and Vogel out, Lue or Lee in, draft Grant Nelson or Tyler Kolek.

Disappointing end of the 1st quarter. We didn’t score in the last minute while the Pelicans scored 5. Only a 46-28 lead now after one.

74 at the half, up 20. Good ball movement and active defensively. A few lulls but nothing the Pels could do anything with. Gotta see if we can sustain it for another half. Thought we did a good job containing Zion.
