LOL. Yeah, I thought the same.

But it seems like a lot of leagues do care, so how dedicated is he to continuing his career that'll be severely limited in opportunities?

So if it were a bigger name player or even a star, would the NBA have reacted differently? LBJ? Luka? SGA? Would it be a lifetime ban or some 50 game/season long suspension plus the whole "X player must go thru certain steps to be reinstated", along with all the articles written about gambling addiction and how X player needs help and this is a serious disease affecting people all over the world?

I think anyone who did what Jontay did would get the same treatment

The precedent has been set. Anybody else who commits the same offenses will get the same punishment.

I don't know if they would have given a huge star like Giannis, Luka, Embiid, etc. a lifetime ban if they were the first to do this. But now that they've set the precedent, they would probably have to do so for consistency's sake, unless the type of violation were less severe.

If they proved Giannis was betting on Bucks games and letting people know he’d leave early and to take the unders I think they’d absolutely give him a lifetime ban.

It’s not like he was betting on random hornets games. He was betting on his own games and impacting the outcome of them. And betting on his team to lose…might be different if he was betting on them to win.

I can’t fathom why anyone would do this. Is he mentally ill or just stupid?

Lakers fans are saying there should be an investigation into MPJ to see how much he knew about this situation and should miss games until it’s concluded. Depending on how these first rounds series go down, I might agree. :)

Punish him first, then look into whether he did anything wrong?

Come on. If there isn’t any evidence against MPJ, you can’t suspend him for the actions of his brother.

I agree!

…unless we play them in the 2nd round then I think we shouldn’t leave any stone unturned. We can’t let him play until we see how big this web is.

He's most likely a gambling addict. People with addictions of all sorts come up with lots of ways to let them control and ruin their lives.

They'd tell him to play baseball for a couple of seasons.

MPJ has shared some pretty dumb opinions in the past, so it's not surprising to me that his brother is an idiot.

What dumb opinions? Haven’t followed that family particularly closely.
