We're still a month out from the college season starting, but here's a thread to talk college news. I primarily want you guys to weigh in on this Louisville recruiting story. For those that haven't been following it, a woman that ran an escort business was paid by a Louisville assistant coach to provide strippers and sex for the Louisville basketball team. Here's the original Outside the Lines story: http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/ ... nardi-hall
There's some big names caught up in this thing: Terrence Williams, Terry Rozier, Montrezl Harrell, Russ Smith.

Haven't read all of the details, but it seems like Pitino will get in trouble, right? How can he escape being tied to this thing? It's "his" program. How could he not know?

Well, he also forgot that he was having an affair back in 2006 so this is something he probably also forgot.

Finally got around to watching this story. Pretty despicable. The former escort is also despicable in that she involved her daughters in it. Unbelievable.

What do you guys think of Melo Trimble? Just hit a game winning 3 from Steph Curry range against Wisconsin. He's 20 years old. 6' 3". Averaging 16 points on 45% from the field but 41% from 3 taking 4 a game. I know we shouldn't talk about adding a PG when we have 2 already, but I like this kid. One red flag is that he's averaging less assists because he's scoring more. Sometimes in college they do that because they have to, but Maryland seems to have plenty of scorers. Jivony has him at #23. If he could somehow be there at the Cavs pick I wouldn't hesitate.
Four our pick, assuming we don't land #1 I really like Dragan Bender. Legit 7 footer that runs like a deer. Must get stronger though.

Not a great start to conference play for UofA. A buzzer beater by UCLA and now a 4OT loss by USC. Haven't even played Cal yet. Ugh.

What sites do you guys recommend for tracking potential prospects? I glance at nbadraft.net but it doesn't update many outside the top 10 in detail until closer to draft time

Since the 2014 draft what I do is looking up who are the top or most interesting prospects on nbadraft.net or draftexpress.com and download NCAA games via torrent.

Draft Express for me too. Givony was recently hired by Woj to work for Yahoo, who is seriously expanding their basketball coverage (they also hired Bobby Marks). They must have done that in order to keep Woj around.

Damn. Trier is out 4-6 weeks with a broken metatarsal. So much for UofA this season.

Labissiere isn't really a basketball player yet. He may end up being a big mistake for whatever team drafts him in the lottery.

I thought the same exact thing about Rudy Gobert.

Gobert looked tremendous in Europe. His coordination was better, he knew where to be on the court; he really displayed an understanding for the game light years ahead of Skal. Gobert impressed me; Skal does not. Skal has the measurables and he plays for Kentucky, so there will be buzz about him, but buyer beware.

I'm with you on this, I've seen nothing that would suggest he's a 1st rounder, much less a top 6 or so pick.

I'm officially on the Melo Trimble bandwagon. I want to use the Cleveland pick and maybe an asset to move back into the 1st to get him. My line-up would be Trimble-Booker-Warren-Simmons/Ingram-Len. Then you just play all those guys starters minutes. You do what OKC did with KD and Westbrook. You suffer the losing season and pick top 5 again in 2017, but you get those guys an entire year of playing heavy minutes together. That is my Suns team of the future.

I need to watch some Trimble, I know nothing about him. So far I like 4 guys
Simmons - obvious, is he magic? Lebron? I think a bigger Pistons version of grant hill is a good comp
Ingram - pretty obvious too, 6'10 athlete that plays d and can shoot it
Kris Dunn - Steady, can do everything. I see some Lowry/Bledsoe in him. He's longer and I think a purer point
Buddy Hield - he's your prototypical scoring 6th man off the bench
I'm not sold on jaylen brown, Jamal Murray, Henry ellenson or any of the other freshman yet. I wouldn't touch skal labissiere. Don't know anything about dragan bender yet.
I really hope we snag a top 2, I'd be ecstatic with either Ingram or Simmons

I'd make it top3 and Dunn.

I do really like Dunn. I'd be ok with that if we moved bled and knight. I'm not as anti bled/knight as some, but I do think we've got to abandon the dual scoring point guard system.
Dunn/bled could be an interesting backcourt. Not sure they shoot well enough, both are improving but aren't knockdown guys. Defensively they'd be outstanding and I think Dunn will be quite a bit better playmaker than knight. Still I think I'd rather go Dunn/Booker and move bled/knight for young front court talent. Not sure who that is though.
That's if we go Dunn. If we land Simmons, a Bled/Booker/Warren/Simmons/Len core makes sense. I think Ingram might eventually be able to play the 4, but he's too weak right now. Bled/Booker/Ingram/??/Len is ok. Still missing another playmaker, I think we all agree neither bled or knight should be a primary playmaker.

Not a huge Trimble fan. I think he's a bit overrated and hasn't impressed me this year. I think he's a poor man's D'Angelo Russell. I'd honestly take Denzel Valentine before him. That's just me.
I wish the Suns would find a way the get AJ Hammons. He's finally figured it out. He's a bit old for a senior but he has amazing shot blocking instincts with both hands, He's got range from 23 feet. His question has always been about his motor because he's kind of quiet and a bit shy but he's finally realizing he can be a player at the next level. His numbers aren't going to blow you away because he's in a motion offense.
I'm tired of Kentucky players. Just tired.
I'm also not really into the love child of Andrea Bargnani and Darko Milicic AKA Dragan Bender.
