I never saw 1. Is it required/recommended viewing before seeing 2? (Not happy with the spoiler though. ;))

Yep, John Wick 2 begins where John Wick 1 ended. They're both really fun movies so check them out. :D

I haven't seen 2, but you should watch 1 first. Very fun movie.

Thanks guys. I will definitely watch 1 before going to see 2. Sounds like they are right up my alley minus the dog killing (who knows, maybe it dies of natural causes).

If you know batman, and especially if you remember seeing the 60s tv show in re-runs like I do, it is wonderful. I liked it much more than my kids did.

So I finally caught John Wick...saw a lot of hype online over the past year or so which I thought was more sarcasm than genuine enthusiasm. Thought it was a bad Keanu action flick that people were more making fun of...."thugs kill Keanu's dog so he kills everyone" sorta thing. But then more and more people were saying it was legitimately good so I gave it a go. Maybe it's because people were saying it was SO good that I was a bit underwhelmed by it. I thought it was pretty good, very stylish, good action scenes. But I wasn't blown away by anything. Again, my expectations might have been skewed. Had I gone to see it in the movies with no expectations, maybe I'd think it was a lot better. Good to see Keanu kicking ass like that, but the Russians were pretty bad, the story itself was thin and I thought the scenes in between the action brought the movie to a crawl. Solid B, but nothing groundbreaking IMO.

Love the ending of John Wick Chapter 2.
Spoiler: show/hide
I can't believe those films are directed by a 2nd unit director / former stunt double of Keanu's on The Matrix. They have a look kind of their own, though obviously you see a bit of John Woo's cuts mixed with the sort of washed out palette of Michael Mann. I really love the mythology, and I think that's what makes it more than just a second rate "Equilibrium."

Anybody gonna see Get Out? I immediately dismissed it because (a) it's a horror movie, and those are usually terrible; and (b) it has a bunch of second-rate TV actor types in it. It just looked like a dud. But apparently it's great and is getting awesome ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB.

I want to see it and I don't often go to horror movies. It's the directorial debut of Jordan Peele from Key & Peele. It sounds really interesting from what I've read.
