Let’s not pretend like the dems give a shit about people any more than the republicans. Look at all the bullshit that gets packed into all these bills. All these politicians are in it for themselves and their business interests. The democrats are just better at the poker face and faking it.

I agree the republicans are absolute morons when it comes to COVID and social issues, but aside from that both sides suck
Could you point out some of that BS? I truly don’t know what it was. I know they packed in stuff with the infrastructure bill like child care for working women and that seems like something where they do care. Going green seems like they care. Obamacare was them caring about those Americans without health care. I would be interested in knowing what the other bad stuff was showing they don’t care was.
If you think 3.5 trillion dollars is being spent in good will and that liberals are honest people not influenced by lobbyists and deals that they make on the side to sway their votes, I don’t know how to change your opinion on that.

Joe Bidens net worth as a career politician is ridiculous. If you think he earned it as Honest Joe, well we’ll agree to disagree.
You didn’t answer my question at all. You just said you don’t trust Democrats so, they must be doing something bad, which is the same as Trump saying the election was stolen. Both statements aren’t based on any facts. It’s based on your general opinion of Dem politicians. So you don’t actually know what was in the bill at all.
Okay, do you?

A lot of it was not even disclosed. Most of congress doesn’t even read the bills. They basically say vote now and read later. Actually I’m almost positive Pelosi has said that before.

If you believe they are in it to help you, have I got some snake oil for you.

Democrats pretend they give a damn about healthcare workers. Where the fuck is my hazard pay? How about some medicolegal protections if I make an honest mistake because we’re working under ridiculous conditions? How about something for my family in case I get sick?

Nope. They don’t give a damn. They’re all talk.

I don’t know everything that was in it. You said it was filled with BS so, I asked you to fill me in. You obviously don’t know either but, are sure it’s all BS. Ok, thanks for the info.

Dems don’t care about you because they didn’t give you hazard pay? Shouldn’t that be your employers responsibility? Something for your family if you die? It’s called life insurance. If Dems did what you said it would be labelled Socialism and they would be crucified. How would they accomplish that? Just make it happen? They can’t even get the stuff they really want passed. I respect your profession and you guys are working under stressful conditions. Everyone working is at risk. The leading cause of death in the police is Covid. We all need hazard pay if we are working. The band I am in is on it’s second round of Covid. We could just choose to stay home and not work for several years and be safe but, that isn’t very feasible. We all choose our profession and all that comes with it. Becoming a soldier is inherently dangerous and they do get hazard pay depending on their assignments. You saying Dems don’t care about you because they didn’t give you hazard pay and built in life insurance isn’t being very fair. Cons didn’t give you any of that either.

I’m going to remove myself from this conversation before I say anything I may regret later.

The CDC says that Omicron now accounts for 99.5% of Covid cases in the US: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracke ... roportions

This means that there are only about 4,000 cases of Delta per day in the entire US now (plus unreported infections, of course), down from about 100,000 reported cases per day before the Omicron wave. So Omicron has almost made Delta disappear in a very short time.

I wonder whether we'll have a Delta resurgence when Omicron has burned out? Hope not, obviously, but...

They say that Omicron provides much better immunity against Delta than Delta provides against Omicron, so hopefully not.

I decided to put this here rather on the main board but now John Stockton of all people has had his Gonzaga season tickets suspended as he refuses to wear a mask at the games.

Stockton is a loon…he claims 150 professional athletes have dropped dead on the field/court from the vaccine.
"I think it's highly recorded now, there's 150 I believe now, it's over 100 professional athletes dead -- professional athletes -- the prime of their life, dropping dead that are vaccinated, right on the pitch, right on the field, right on the court,"

Yeah, it’s one of those myths going around. Apparently, he bought into it.

there isn't a bigger gap between on-court greatness vs off-court shitty-ness than the duo of Stockton/Malone.

Interesting report from the CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/71/wr/mm7104e1.htm

FIGURE. Incident laboratory-confirmed COVID-19-associated hospitalizations among immunologic cohorts defined by vaccination and previous diagnosis histories — California, May 30–November 13, 2021*,†
Image

This shows that natural immunity is, if anything, longer lasting and stronger than vaccine-induced immunity. And it also shows that there is virtually no benefit to getting vaccinated if you've been previously infected, which is what Sen. Rand Paul has been ridiculed for saying over and over again.
