All I know is that my life is the best it's ever been. But OK.

I don't understand. You're not American. OK. But what's getting worse?
foreign policy, off the top of my head.
You long for the glory days of Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld? How is foreign policy, of all things, getting worse?!

Well, Hillary just blamed Obama for screwing Iraq

While Hillary is being accused of disloyalty by Obama supporters. It's called "abandon ship" and "every man for himself".

Didn't W Bush take like 1/3 of his presidency off, a record high?

Was more talking in reference to the foreign policy rather than the vacationing.

Oh, yippee. A Washington Post columnist crowing that Hillary Clinton was critical of Obama. She feels on foreign policy matters that Obama is far better than his immediate predecessor, but she'd be smarter than both. I'm willing to accept HRC as a credible foreign policy expert if you are, but I suspect you'll be singing a very different tune in 2016.

Wait, so the Washington Post is not an acceptable source? Too right-wing, I guess?

What works for you - Vox? The New Republic?

Just pointing out a few of the things going on in the world where Obama's foreign policy leadership has been weak or ineffectual, given that you asked, "How is foreign policy, of all things, getting worse?!"

And yes, Clinton would have been better. Biden probably would have been, as well. As I said earlier in the thread though, it's really moot who wins in 2016 because we're boned financially and no politician has the wherewithal to fix the problem.

"Worse" is comparative. Worse than what?

Oh, I don't know. Ukraine and Russia being on the brink of war strikes me as worse as the status quo. As does the expansion of ISIS toward a multi-nation caliphate.

Blaming Obama for the turmoil in Libya and Iraq is pretty stupid, Dan.

Oh, whoops, guess I missed the part where he bombed Libya without Congressional approval, took most of the troops out of Iraq, and is now talking about sending them back in. That was that other guy who was President from 09-13, McPalin-something, right?

Did W Bush not attack any countries without Congressional approval?

I don't believe he did, Congress voted to approve both Iraq and Afghanistan, IIRC.

Reagan bombed Libya and invaded Grenada without authorization, also IIRC, doesn't make that right, either.

The great irony is the hypocrisy, of course. Right or wrong, the left vigorously protested Iraq and Afghanistan. Not so much once Obama was elected, though. I will give Cindy Sheehan props and respect for being intellectually consistent, she has still been protesting. Just hasn't been getting as much coverage from the media.

Insofar as the current President goes, I think this quote is appropriate:

“The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.” - Barack Obama, 2007.

That was his position when he was in the opposition; when it came time for him to decide what to do in Libya and Syria, he seemed to have forgotten his prior stance and went ahead without authorization in the face of vigorous protest from the legislative branch.

BTW, my brother's going on two years now waiting for surgery on the hip he messed up on his second tour in Iraq. The VA had approved for him to have it done at an orthopedic specialist, then pulled that authorization and wanted him to do rehab - after having a specialist's opinion that it would require surgery to fix when six months of physical therapy did nothing.

I think there was a campaign promise about that, as well, but like most of the others it has fallen far short of the mark.

Although he was right in one regard - his election WAS the moment when the rise of sea levels began to slow and the planet began to heal itself. No measurable global warming for almost two decades now.

No measurable global warming for almost two decades now.
Not unless you look at data, facts, and science, no.

The video in that totally-reputable website says, in under a couple minutes and citing only some random Brit, that both there has been no global warming for 17 years, AND that the rate of global warming has been half of what was predicted. Seems like solid math.

You and I will never agree about this issue so I don't see a point in continuing. Feel free to take the last word.
