TrumpCare (AHCA)

Post by Mori Chu »

They were going to vote on it yesterday (Thu 3/23), but they canceled. Now today (Fri 3/24) they're voting. Politico says the results aren't in yet, and that it's too close to call.

Note: Even if it gets passed in the House, it will have to pass the Senate, which is an entirely separate vote and could also fail for its own reasons.

I hope it fails, it's not a good replacement. Go back to the drawing board and fix the issues before you bring it to the table.

Here is a pretty savage take from Business Insider on why AHCA is failing.

I find it hilarious that Trump is blaming the Democrats while his party holds a majority in all three branches.

He knows he's on thin ice, so he has to resort to lying (again) in order to con his own party (again).

He's blaming the Dems, which is comical, and also says "“The best thing politically is to let Obamacare explode", which is crazy.

Obviously health care IS complicated. The Republicans have been frothing at the mouth wanting to repeal Obama's signature health care plan for 7+ years. 50+ useless repeal votes in the past seven years. Now they control everything and could easily repeal it but, they can't because they can't even agree with themselves what should and shouldn't be in their plan. Trumps promise of health care for all Americans at a lower price obviously isn't going to happen.

This is a big thing for America and partisan politics should be thrown out the window but, it won't be. Obamacare isn't perfect and does need changes. People can blame who they want and it doesn't change the fact that we Americans pay twice as much for health care than the rest of the planet does and we are the only industrialized country without Universal Health Care, which means we are the only one who doesn't mind millions of their countrymen to go with zero health care. Its's a big cluster F and we all need to sit down and have a frank conversation about what America can do to fix this without all the finger pointing and partisan BS.

The fact that they took that many votes to try to repeal ObamaCare when they knew it wouldn't get past the Presidential veto was ridiculous partisan trolling.

I think they had to, as many probably ran on a repeal platform.

That doesn't make it any less ridiculous.
