Around the League: 2018 Offseason
Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
Yeah, but he hits the 3, defends and rarely makes mistakes.
Precious Achiuwa, Dalano Banton, Batum, Chris Boucher, Amir Coffey, Tre Jones, Laravia, Mamukelashvili, Tre Mann, De'Anthony Melton, Minott, Nance, Chris Paul, GP2, T. Prince, Reed, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Tate, Watford, Yabusele

I'm not sure where this VanVleet is a good defender thing is coming from. He was on a team that itself was very good defensively. He's undersized with a decent shot from 3, but I dont think I'd wanna spend any money on him. Screams DJ Augustin to me.

All his advanced metrics show he was a good defender as does the eye test.TheOriginalOriginal wrote: ↑Tue Jun 26, 2018 11:31 pmI'm not sure where this VanVleet is a good defender thing is coming from. Just being on a team that's good defensively doesn't make one a good defender. Steph Curry still looks exposed defensively every single Warriors game and despite playing in a lineup with CP3, Ariza, Tucker and Capela, James Harden still looks awful defensively.
FVV being good defensively is a partial credit to his team but nearly most of it is himself.

I say do something crazy, like overpay Rondo to get him to sign for 1 year to see if it works out. 20 million for 1 year. Then you get the cap space back next summer.

Barf. Of all the PG suggestions out there, Rondo is easily the worst fit. Can’t shoot. Barely defends. Needs the ball in his hands to be effective.

His shooting has improved--he's averaged 36% on threes since leaving Boston.

Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
When Rondo is engaged and thinks his team can win in the playoffs, he's a top 10 point guard. The Suns are not good enough right now to keep him in line, so it's not smart to go after him.

Based on recent experience I would be extremely cautious signing anyone from the Celtics for any significant money.
Re: Around the League: 2018 Offseason
Rondo’s always said good things about this team as well, so makes sense

Ronnie Price and Mirza Teletovic are both available.
Alright, I spent a minute looking for pictures of both guys together on the Suns. God Damn, it has been a bad stretch for the Suns. I made myself sad seeing all those pictures of Archie Goodwin, Sonny Weems, John Leuer, etc.

I don't get the Rondo stuff either
Can't recall where I saw the numbers breakdown but someone was basically saying that Playoff Rondo is really a thing when u compare his regular season numbers.
As someone said earlier it is simply because he's more engaged during the Playoffs. Don't trust Rondo to be a good influence in the regular season

Agreed. I don't want him here because I don't think he will do much for us. But him saying those things shouldn't be a reason to avoid him.

I hope that the Mavs make a big offer for Randle at the start of free agency. Just want to see the Lakers burn as they strike out in a trade for Kawhi, which in turn makes LeBron hesitant and then PG too. So instead of trading away Deng's contract and having a big 3 while retaining Randle, they miss out on all of them and lose Randle in Free Agency.

We don't need a SF, but I think Dougy McDerms can contribute to a winning team.
