And who says they are doing it for money? Guys like Lebron are afraid to irrelevance more than anything, he cherish the power, not the money. And if signs one too many of this contracts, he will become irrelevant overnight.

You're right, there other factors involved than just money. For LeBron, it is brand management and also a power play: he can essentially bolt from any situation that isn't to his liking.

Durant's 1+1 deals have given Golden State some flexibility, but it is also maximizing his earning potential in 2019.

No he won't. Tiger Woods still can grab headlines and he hasn't been a top golfer for years. Kobe still garnered plenty of attention in his farewell tour season even though he was a shell of his former self and had missed nearly a season due to injury.

LeBron will be fine.

Barton with a whopping 6.1WS last year. That would put his value around $17M/yr so $12.5M per is a bit of a bargain.

It's strange, when they gave Warren his $12M/yr last off-season his WS was 4.1 putting his FA value around $11.5M. Do the Suns generally stick closely to CPW of the previous season?

I think I dislike everything about it. It must be exhausting having a guy like that as a player on your team (from the FO and teammate perspective).
For the players, maybe so. For Golden State this time around it actually helped them because it opened up the mini-MLE. They will be able to sign someone. Maybe even Ariza if the market is dry and he can't get what he wants elsewhere.

McDermott hasn't proven he can actually be an NBA player that makes an impact.

Do the mavs have cap for next year? Maybe they have some understanding about giving him tons of money this year and less next year while signing another big player.

How did McDermott get that much money? Isn't this what Lou Williams got? Crazy.
And I don't get why the Mavs are so in love with DJ. At least it's only a one year deal.

https://twitter.com/BobbyMarks42/status/1013276436420055040 Yikes.. No way they can pay that, right? The same team that dumped harden for salary reasons. How much would a waive and stretch of Melo save them?
