I also think he looked terrible against the Warriors in the playoffs.

I just think Ariza is basically the same player as Bridges. Let’s see what else is in store.
We’ve learned the hard way not to start rookies who haven’t earned the PT. They need to earn it. Ariza will ensure that if they suck, they will sit.

I really don't think Ariza does anything for us. This is a waste. At least it is only for one year.
Defense, shooting, flexibility, and experience don't do anything for ya? All on a 1-year deal. Sounds kinda... perfect?
I don't want to move Warren for him. And if you keep Warren, there just isn't enough minutes for everyone. Besides the experience, everything you just listed is why the Suns supposedly wanted Bridges so much. So why make the same move twice?

The experience thing doesn't move the needle for me. Ariza isn't a smart player. His role was to launch 3s and defend.

And he really doesn't work as a stretch 4, at least not full time.

That's true, but it doesn't hurt to have multiple guys who can defend and shoot. Neither need the ball, very low maintenance players that provide good value.

Could be a strategy to auction him off at the deadline to a contending team for a young player or pick.

There was no PG worth paying. 1yr deal for Ariza is fine, just gotta unload some of the redundancy. Chriss/Warren probably on the block.

Which works well considering Bridges is a rookie and Arizona is on a 1-year deal.
Do you post from your phone? It keeps autocorrecting Ariza to Arizona.
Go Suns!

He was. 33% from the field, 20% from 3.

We don't have to pay $15 million to a mediocre role player to keep Bridges on the bench. Bridges plays the same position as Booker and Jackson; that's how you keep him from starting.

I would rather waive and stretch Dudley than waive Williams unless they're planning on re-signing Williams at a lower salary.

Why would you stretch a player on an expiring contract?

I would have been upset if we signed him to a 3 year deal, but a 1 year deal is harmless. If he sucks, we just bench him, if we suck, trade him to a contender at the deadline. He can hopefully be what Dudley was supposed to be before he got out of shape.

Ariza/Bender/Chriss/Peters
Jackson/Warren/Dudley/House/King
Ayton/Chandler/Williams?
Booker/Daniels/Reed
Knight/Okobo/Harrison

Looks like Chriss may be the odd man out, hopefully in a deal to get a guard who can contribute.

It's not harmless; is this the best thing we can come up with? The best way to use $15 million in cap space is a 3&D wing who shot 28% from 3 in the playoffs and is 33 years? After just investing 2 1st rounders into a 3&D player? And with 3 of our top 4 players being wing players?

I guess I'd just rather have Williams waiving that towel than Dudley.

Keep in mind, we do still have the room mid level exception. Can sign someone up to 4.4 million

I would go

Knight/Okobo
Booker/Bridges
Jackson/Warren/Bridges
Arizona/Bender/Warren/Bridges
Ayton/Chriss

Don't you only have the MLE if you start the offseason over the cap?
